Structural Load Calculations Guide

The document outlines calculations for slab thickness, wall load, and plaster density, providing specific values for concrete, floor finish, and brickwork densities. It also includes a section on earthquake load definitions according to IS 1893, detailing parameters like zone, reduction factor, and importance factor. Additionally, it specifies joint weights for seismic loads in a building structure.

A) Slab Thickness / Floor Finish (Density)

Slab Thick (150 MM) Floor Finish (50MM)

Density of Concrete = 25 KN/m3 Density of Floor Finish = 20 KN/m3

Calculation = (.150 X 25) + (.50 X 20) = 4.75 KN/m2 (Total Floor Load)

B) Wall Load (Density)

Thickness of Wall = 230 MM

Height of Wall = 3000 (i.e. If the Each Floors in the Building has 3 Meter Height)

Depth of Beam = 400 MM (For Example)

Density of Brickwork = 20 KN/m3 (Mostly considerable)

Calculation of Wall Height = 3000 (Height of Wall) - 400 (Depth of Beam) + 200 (Thickness of Slab +
Floor Finish) = 2400 MM

C) Plaster (Density)

Outer Plaster = 15 MM (Mostly considerable)

Interior Plaster = 12 MM (Mostly considerable)

Total Plaster Thickness is 27 MM

Density of Plaster = 22 KN/m3 (Considerable)

Calculation of Wall Load : -

(0.230 X 2.4 X 20) + (0.027 X 22 X 2.4) = 12.5 KN/m

Millimeter to Inches

150 MM = 6”

225 MM = 9”

300 MM = 12” (1 Ft.)

450 MM = 18” (1’-6” Ft.)
