Nested Component Structure

You can create components that contain multiple components using the nested
component structure. This structure enables you to address more complex content
management scenarios, such as components with multiple tabs that can display
different types of content.

The nested component structure is not a component type but a structure or framework
that allows your company or your SAP implementation partner to create component
types that can consist of multiple component types. The component type created
using the nested component structure consists of a master component and one or more
components within the component, which we call nested components. When creating
such a component, your company specifies which component type to use as the master
component and which component types to use as the nested components. For example,
your company could create a component with a master that allows you to add multiple
simple responsive banner components as nested components. In the storefront, each
simple responsive banner component is shown as a tab and each tab has different
content.

Similar to the other component types that SmartEdit supports, you create and edit
nested components in the Component Editor.

From within the master component, you can create, add, edit, or remove nested
components from it. When you create, add, or edit a component, another Component
Editor is launched from within the current Component Editor. You can also change
the order of the nested components, which will change the order in which the
components are displayed in your storefront.

Note
SAP Commerce Cloud SmartEdit does not provide a default component created from the
nested component structure, therefore, we do not provide a procedure for defining
such a component.
