NOTE
WARNING
Hazard to the patient!
Functional failure of the operating table cannot be completely
excluded given state-of-the-art technology available on the
market today. Should this rare event occur, motor-driven
operating table functions will no longer be available during the
operation.
If the electrical operating table functions fail, the patient can only
be moved with suitable aids (e. g., by placing a pad underneath
the patient) or by manually moving the patient from the operating
table.
• Read the relevant instruction manuals for the proper and safe
use of additional equipment.
• The knobs are loosened by turning counter-clockwise and
tightened by turning clockwise, like a standard screw.
1.3.2 Electricity
• Get a qualified electrician to check the electrical safety
of the operating table and the power supply every year.
We recommend an annual general safety check by Technical
Customer Service at TRUMPF Medizin Systeme GmbH +
Co. KG.
• The anti-static properties of the operating tabletop comply with
legal requirements if the standard and Prophylactic plus (T) pads
supplied are used and properly secured. The pads are electrically
conductive and guarantee AP safety when the regulations are
heeded.
• Always keep rechargeable batteries ready for service
(i. e., charged) so they may be immediately used in the
event of a loss of power.
• Do not crush or roll over power and equipotential bonding
conductors. Do not use any damaged cables. Disconnect
cables before moving equipment.
If you have any concern about the safety of the power cables
and equipotential bonding conductors, work with the internal
(rechargeable) power supply only until you have replaced the
cable in question.
• Only the use of the operating table when an equipotential
bonding conductor is connected to an electrically conductive
floor.
• Connection points for the potential equalisation cable on the
operating table comply with DIN EN 60601-1 (VDE 0750-1).
1.3.4 Pads
• Use of the operating table with Prophylactic (M) pads in
potentially explosive areas is generally not permitted.
• The pads and cover retain the patient´s body heat, thereby
preventing the body temperature from falling due to heat
diffusion.
• The pad is removable. Use the appropriate pads only
(manufactured by TRUMPF Medizin Systeme GmbH +
Co. KG).
Do not lay the patient on the operating table without
a pad. The edges of the pad are flush with the operating
table when operating table components are fitted properly.
• Lift the patient into the desired position on the operating table
and do not pull the patient over the pads. After each change of
position, lift the patient´s appropriate body parts. Any wrinkles
or shearing forces that have developed will be eliminated.
• Do not place any sharp-edged objects on the pad or stick them
into the pad. Do not attach any adhesive foil.
• Always use only ONE pad version for the patient positioning
area (the tabletop plus the section segments). Note the different
properties of the pad versions (See chapter 4 “Pads” on
page 18).
1.3.5 Transport/Repositioning
• Occupational safety for personnel: Given their heavy weight,
when lifting or carrying the section segments and accessories,
or when manually moving the operating table with or without
a patient, take extra care not to strain your back. Work with
an additional person if necessary. Never couple or uncouple
multiple section segments or heavy, unwieldy accessories at the
same time. Hold the component securely and do not drop it.
• Secure the patient before adjusting the operating table and
support the patient actively during adjustments.
• Pay close attention to all electrically supported functions and
movements near the operating table to rule out any risks to
the patient or material damage to equipment, the operating
tabletop or furnishings.
• Perform all manual patient repositioning in a controlled and
responsible manner. Watch the movements of electrically
powered operating table adjustments carefully until the end
position has been reached.
• Pay particular attention to the operating table when lowering,
since the tabletop may collide with operating accessories lying
below it, or it may even contact the floor if it is set in an extreme
position. In some circumstances, there is a possible risk of
crushing people as well.
• When the zero position is approached on the operating table,
inclined patient positions may become steeper than they were
before the movement commenced. Select the ZERO POSITION
function only if there is no possibility of collisions. Closely watch
the table as it moves from the zero position to the end position.
• Risk of tipping over! Before moving the operating table
(with the drive mode):
- Lower the operating tabletop until the pictogram on the
column covers is obscured.
- Return any tilted position to a horizontal position.
- Shut or disassemble any accessories.
• Danger of collision! Be especially careful when transporting
the operating table. Be careful to avoid collisions with nearby
persons or furniture to prevent damage to the table.
• For accessories with removable pads, do not carry the
accessories by the pad. The accessory will slip out of the
pad and fall onto the floor.
1.3.6 Maintenance/Repair
• Always keep a log book for the medical device. All services,
inspections and repairs are to be documented in this book.
• All repairs must be performed in accordance with the safety
regulations as per DIN EN 60601-1 (DIN VDE 0750-1)/
IEC 60601-1.
• Within the bounds of the legal requirements, the manufacturer
is only then responsible for the technical safety characteristics
of this apparatus if the maintenance, repairs and modifications
to this apparatus are performed by him or by someone
appointed by him and in accordance with his instructions.
• TRUMPF Medizin Systeme GmbH + Co. KG shall not liable for
damage of any kind arising from the failure to perform
inspections or as a result of inadequate repairs or
maintenance, or modifications to the product.

NOTE
7 Coupling Points
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to improper attachment!
Always ensure that the coupled parts are securely fastened to
the operating table. Check the connection before each use.
Never couple or uncouple more than one component at a time.
The coupling and uncoupling of accessory parts are described
in the respective instruction manuals.
7.1 Definition
All operating tabletops, section segments and accessory parts
by TRUMPF have coupling points from the fastening system
developed by TRUMPF. The coupling point is a separable
connection site between the operating tabletop and additional
equipment. The different coupling variants allow the operating
table to be assembled individually and with mechanical safety.
The coupling points ensure:
• Easy assembly/disassembly
• reliable and play-free connections
• different arrangements of the operating table
NOTE
8 Radiolucence
There is total x-ray capability between the metal arms.
The column area is radiopaque. Avoid the creases in the pad
for a minimally artifactual X-ray.
There are rails on the inside of the seat section extension arms to
hold x-ray cassettes (size: 14"). You can slide the X-ray cassette
beneath the seat section.

11 Operation
DANGER
Risk of death due to electric shock!
Check potential connection. Use the operating table only with
a connected potential equalisation cable. The operating table
must possess a potential connection in the operating theatre.
WARNING
Risk of explosion in the AP area!
Use of Prophylactic (M) pads on the operating table in the AP area
is not permitted in conjunction with flammable anaesthetic gases,
cleansers or disinfectants.
Use only antistatic pads on the operating table on antistatic
flooring. Prevent electrostatic charges.
CAUTION
Hazard to the patient! Risk of collisions and jamming!
Watch all motorised movements of the operating table carefully
until the end position is reached. If the operating table is fully
equipped, not all of the coupled parts are detected by the
electronics. Collisions can thus not be ruled out entirely and
must be prevented by aborting the function.
Monitor all accessories attached in the column area during
adjustments.
The seat section and back section extension form a single unit and
can be adjusted by the control units. They have coupling points for
additional components. The system's sensors report the important
settings of the tabletop, as well as its position. These data are
analyzed.
Before use, turn the operating table on and brake (lock into place).
Secure the patient before adjusting the operating table and provide
active support during adjustments. The head position of the patient
must correspond with the display on the column keypad. Set the
head position at the column keypad.
To adjust the operating table, the corresponding function keys
on the control unit have to be pressed until the desired position
is reached. The function stops when the key(s) is released. When
lowering the tabletop segment from a position above the seat
section level, the segment stops automatically in the zero position
(signal). To lower below the zero position, briefly release and then
press the function key(s) again.
The head position of the patient must match the display on the
column keypad.
The operating tabletop can be set up in the “inverse” direction for
certain patient positions where the patient needs to be lying at the
other end of the operating tabletop (with head at the foot end).
The column keypad displays no longer match the patient's head
position. Some operating table functions (e. g., Trendelenburg,
i3 i4 tilting) are then reversed. In such cases, you must manually switch

NOTE
The MARS 2.07 operating table has a locking tabletop that can
be manually displaced in the longitudinal direction. The remote
control releases the locking mechanism. The range of adjustment
is 270 mm (10.7 in). Limited by the gearing, the tabletop can be
locked into 11 different positions.
1. Hold the tabletop securely and disengage longitudinal
displacement. Hold the following buttons depressed to
release the longitudinal displacement:
CAUTION
Risk of material damage if gearing is jammed.
You must hear that the teeth have locked into place (and
are not tooth on tooth). If needed, move the tabletop back
and forth a little bit until it securely locks into place.
When lowering from a position that is above the seat section level,
the process stops as soon as the section segment reaches zero
position. To lower below the zero position, briefly release and then
press the function key(s) again.
The two back section joints [9] are motorised and can only be
adjusted jointly (not individually). For back section functions, the
section segments coupled at the head end are tilted up or down.
9 Sensors monitor and limit the adjustment range to ±90°.
With foot-end positioning of the tabletop, the BACK SECTION
9 DOWN function is limited to a downwards range of 55°.

13 Emergency Operation
Various electronics for operating table control (such as the
processors, etc.) have a redundant design to increase operational
reliability. When one processor fails, the system control detects
i20
such. The table automatically switches to the emergency mode.
The EMERGENCY OPERATION display [i20] blinks red and the
red MALFUNCTION display [a4] remains illuminated.
NOTE
a4
Use the emergency mode only to complete a procedure that
is already underway. After this, remove the operating table from
use and contact Technical Customer Service.
CAUTION
Hazard to the patient! Danger of collision.
The limits switches are not monitored. Do not put the operating
table in any extreme positions.
CAUTION
Risk of material damage due to incorrect product
maintenance.
- The operating table is not machine-washable.
- Do not use a high-pressure cleaner. With high-pressure water
jets, fluids can penetrate the interior through gaps or openings
and damage the product (e. g. corrosion).
- Incorrect cleaning agents damage the surfaces.
Do not use any cleaners or disinfectants that are abrasive
or contain halogens or peracetic acid in caring for the
product in general. In addition, do not use any
cleaners or disinfectants containing alcohol or
(flammable) solvents on plastic parts and pads.
CAUTION
Risk of personal injury! *1
The product is no longer AP safe if pad surfaces are
damaged. Do not use the product in conjunction with
highly flammable anaesthetic gases.
Use of incorrect cleaning agents will remove the anti-static
properties of the pads in accordance with DIN EN 60601-1
(IEC 60601-1), and the product will no longer be AP safe.
Use the specified cleaning agents and disinfectants only.

NOTE
Note 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.
Note 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is
affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
a
Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/
cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio
broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To
assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an
electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the
