[Scene Begins]

Dad: Great job son! That was an amazing performance, it reminded me of an incident from my
school days.

Son: That’s great! Tell me more about this incident!

Dad: Back when I was in debate club...

(Dad and Son exit, and in the background the play characters enter)

Oppressor 1: Hah! Halling said that global warming is a myth propagated by underqualified
researchers.

Oppressed: But since the 1950s, scientists and researchers have noted a 2°C rise in average global
temperature which has caused significant melting of global ice caps.

Debate Club President: Good job, both of you. Impressive. I feel that Sahur would be a perfect
addition to the team. You may return to your classes now.

O1: You got selected but you can’t even speak a full sentence without stuttering. (O2 & O3 point &
laugh)

President: What’s going on?

O1, O2, O3: Nothing sir, we’re just having a bit of fun together.

President: Oh? If my eyes aren’t malfunctioning, it looks like all 3 of you are picking on poor Sakun
over here. I selected him despite his speech impairment because he is one of the finest interjectors I
have ever seen. You guys should uplift him rather than make him feel insecure about his disability.
This behaviour is not in the spirit of DPS RKP.

O1, O2, O3: (apologize to Sahur and president)

O1: We’re truly sorry for our mistake Sahur, let’s be friends.

(O1, O2, O3 shake hands with Sahur — everyone exits)


Son: That’s an amazing story dad — hurry up now, let’s go to the AVH, they’re showing us a dance
performance!
