PARTS OF A MULTI-TESTER
MULTI-TESTER
Parts Functions
METER SCALE Use to identify the amount of voltage current
and resistance of the circuit being measured.
RESISTANCE BLOCK Is the block that used when measuring the
resistance, continuity of an object.
DIRECT CURRENT MILLE-AMPERE Use to measure the small voltage of a direct
BLOCK current.
Is the control to set into zero position the
ZERO OHMS ADJUSTER KNOB needle pointer before and after using a multi-
tester to attain the correctness value.
POSITIVE TEST PROD The color red terminal of the prod.
NEGATIVE TEST PROD The color black terminal of the prod.
NEEDLE CORRECTOR Designed for calibrating the needle of the test
if it is not located in the infinity sign and not
ranging the zero value.
RANGE SELECTOR Is the selector or indicator of the function of
the multi-tester.
ALTERNATING CURRENT VOLTAGE Used when measuring the power, voltage of
BLOCK an object.
DIRECT CURRENT VOLTAGE BLOCK Used if there is polarity will be check and
commonly used in the battery.
NEEDLE POINTER Is a movable part of the multi-tester which
reflects or indicates the reading.
PARTS OF A VOLTMETER
VOLTMETER
Parts Functions
VOLTMETER SCALE The scale displays voltage values, usually
marked with divisions, allowing users to read
voltage based on the needle’s position.
NEEDLE POINTER The needle moves along the scale to indicate
the measured voltage.
ZERO CORRECTOR The small knob or screw calibrates the
voltmeter by setting the needle to zero when
no voltage is applied, ensuring accurate
readings.
NEGATIVE PORT/TERMINAL The negativeterminal is where the negative
lead (or probe) is connected.
POSITIVE PORT/TERMINAL The positive terminal is where the positive
lead (or probe) is connected.
PARTS OF A OHMMETER
OHMMETER
Parts Functions
OHMMETER SCALE Displays resistance values in ohms(Ω), kilo-
ohms(kΩ), or mega-ohms(MΩ) based on the
needle point.
The zero corrector is used to fine-tune the
ZERO CORRECTOR meter’s accuracy, ensuring that the needle or
digital display reads zero when the probes are
shorted (connected together).
NEEDLE POINTER The needle moves along the scale to indicate
the measured resistance.
Allows the user to calibrate a meter to set the
ZERO ADJUSTMENT KNOB needle to zero when no resistance is being
measured, ensuring accurate readings.
The probes carry the electrical signals from
the ohmmeter’s input terminals to the
PROBES component under test, enabling the meter to
calculate and display the resistance based on
the signals received from the probes.
The input terminals transmit the electrical
INPUT TERMINALS signals from the meter to the probes and vice
versa, allowing the meter to measure the
resistance between the connected points.
POWER SWITCH By turning the meter off when not in use, the
power switch helps conserve battery life. This
is especially important for portable meters that
rely on battery power.
PARTS OF A AMMETER
AMMETER
Parts Functions
AMMETER SCALE This is the graduated scale that displays the
current measurement in amperes (A).
ZERO CORRECTOR This knob allows you to adjust the needle
pointer to the zero mark on the scale when
there is no current flowing through the
ammeter. This ensures accurate readings.
NEEDLE POINTER This is the movable pointer that indicates the
current value on the scale. It moves in
response to the magnetic field generated by
the current flowing through the ammeter.
CASE This is the protective housing that encloses
the ammeter's internal components.
RANGE SELECTOR TERMINAL This terminal allows you to select the
appropriate current range for the
measurement. It typically has multiple
positions, each corresponding to a different
range.
