Course Handbook: Course Guide – Content & Structure

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to you all!

The main goal of this course is to improve your listening and speaking skills.

To do this, we are going to practise and activate 320 common expressions and
phrases in different daily situations.

By the end of the course, you will:

- be able to understand these phrases easily when you hear them;


- be able to use these phrases fluently and confidently when you speak;
- review and activate important basic structures;
- improve your listening, fluency and pronunciation.

COURSE CONTENT
The situations we are going to practise are:

Lesson 1

- Introducing yourself
- Greeting people
- Welcoming visitors

Lesson 2
- Inviting someone out
- Eating in a restaurant

Lesson 3
- Telephoning

Lesson 4
- Making or changing an appointment
Lesson 5
- Checking into a hotel
- Reporting a problem

Lesson 6
- Asking for directions
- Buying a train ticket
- Checking in at the airport

Lesson 7
- Going to the bank
- Going to the post office

Lesson 8
- Going to a shop
- Going to the pharmacy

COURSE STRUCTURE
Before you can speak well, you have to be able to understand easily. That is why,
for each phrase, we will:

1. work on your listening comprehension (listen & write);

2. work on your speaking and fluency (listen & repeat);

3. test your listening comprehension (listen & understand);

4. test your assimilation (fill in the gaps).
