ASSIGNMENT 07
1.1. Social media really impacts the privacy of many people
in the world because personal data can be compromised
which will lead to the identity of people being stolen
within the community and also by the reason of this
personal data being compromised in the social media it
can lead to possible increase in cyber-attacks. According
to the constitution the constitutional right to privacy is
protected under the constitution and the protection of
persona information act which say that the importance
of safeguarding personal information online. And the
government may request to or demand access to social
media data and it will interrupt the privacy rights of a
user of the social media. .
1.2. Mostly many people due to the freedom of expression
they use social media as a weapon to hurt the feelings
of others like many cases where we see many people
committing suicide it’s because of the freedom of
expression that is being abused by the users of social
media. But also it has the positive side where people are
able to voice out their concerns on a particular thing on
or a topic. And also social media can be the tool used to
challenge some of the regulation within the society. But
the bad side of social media due to freedom of
expression many people use it as a tool for
misinformation and hate speech which is very wrong.
1.3. Social media’s impact on racism is in many folds because
as mentioned above that social media is used as tool to
promote hate speech among the races and it also
promote racial hate which will negatively impact the
country as a whole because the role of our constitution
is to promote unity among the people and also to
promote Ubuntu among the community of races. But
also it can be a positive impact because it can also be
used as a tool to raise awareness of unity and love
within the races and it can help to teach the people the
importance of unity among the races because unity is a
prerequisite of love.
2. Corruption firstly it makes the allocation of resources to
be inefficient because as this resources they are not
distributed as a whole they will cause certain
infrastructures like roads to have potholes and also cause
even many people to have dirty water as there was a case
in Haamanskraal where people were drinking dirty water
whereas the funds were allocated for that area in a
provincial government level and all this cause by
corruption. Corruption can cause poor quality services as
many officials and people who were to suppose to fix
roads are always looking at their pockets not on the
problem they face. Corruption also contributes to the
failure to reach the needs of the people in the community
because many people are in poverty due to the
corruption.
3. Within the police department there should be a training
of police who will be responsible for the GBV cases and
also this training will help the police men to handle this
cases with sensitivity since they are very important and
also since GBV is the problem in our country. There
should be units as I’ve seen many police stations they
now have those units where they deal with GBV and this
cases they are attended to with speed and urgency to
avoid the victims from making long lines on the police
station. Within these officers that are appointed as
people responsible for the gender based violence cases
the department must ensure that they respond fast to
the cases and attend fast to the cases. Within the
judiciary system the GBV cases should the first priority
with the system and also there shouldn’t be any delay the
cases of GBV must be solved very swiftly. There should
also be courts that deal with such cases in order for the
judges and the prosecutors to be trained when well when
they encounter such GBV cases. The judiciary system
should also issue out long sentences to the perpetrators
of GBV as a lesson for them. Within the community there
should be GBV committee that should be established in
order for that committee to escalate the matter to the
higher authority which is the South African Police
Services. In the society there should raise the awareness
of GBV victims and others on the causes and also the
consequences of it. The society should also make a
support system where they support the victims of GBV so
that they can never have the feeling of being left alone.
And also this support system will also help them and
support them in their court sessions. Also within the
community there should also be religious support where
by the religious leaders will also take part in raising the
awareness against GBV and also teach in their religious
institutions on the importance of living a peaceful life
without violence. In schools there should be mobilization
of books and also materials about GBV and this when it is
taught in schools there should also be a drama that will
be watched by the leaners about GBV because many
learners are visual people. Leaners should also be taught
of having healthy relationship within their environment
as that environment is able to produce love within them.
Many teachers should be taught on how to see a child
who comes is a family background that is full of violence.
The government also should support shelters for GBV
victims by funding those shelters. The president also can
approach other organizations such as UN and UNICEF for
help and also for intervention on how to stop this GBV
cases. The department of police should create a device
that will be able to contact the call centre for GBV alerts.
The police should work with the community to identify
this GBV cases.
5. The person that I look up to for ethical guidance is a
man who is a Presidential envoy to the Zimbabwean
president and also an ambassador to the AU for interfaith
dialogue and also humanitarian affairs and that man is
also a Christian prophet called Prophet Uebert Angel. The
reason why i look up to him for ethical guidance is
because one of the most important part of his teachings
is unity with the Christian faith and also having an ability
to love not only a certain group of people but all the
people as one. Other things that I’ve seen him doing is
also being involved to help the less privileged and buying
food for those who are not able to buy for themselves
and not only that in 2024 it was recorded that he paid
school fees and tertiary fees for students who are more
than two thousand and those student mostly they come
from homes which are not financially stable. The style of
promoting forgiveness has always been my favourite
since he was able to promote forgiveness even to married
couples and also cause reconciliation to happen in the
broken homes and restore the love which was lost with
the families. Prophet Angel has been an example of
humility from the beginning his ministry until now and
this humility has caused many nations to come to
Zimbabwe for his advices even president always call him
for advice. This has inspired a lot of people to follow him
and one of his favourite quote was ,”the proof that you
are called by God is only seen by your humility.” Another
thing which is very important that I have seen was to
build a home for people who did not have houses and
that really caught my heart.
4. Ubuntu emphasizes community respect and how you
treat other people. The key principle of Ubuntu is that the
community should focus on the rehabilitation and
reintegration rather than punishment alone because it’s
not good. Another part of Ubuntu is that you must treat
everyone with respect which is very important and also
treat others with dignity. And another important thing
should be checked is the causes of crime in order to
never judge other people because of their crimes without
checking why they did them. The benefits of Ubuntu on
the criminal justice system is firstly address underlying
issues that cause crime within our community and some
of this causes can be poverty. Restorative justice system
can also promote healing for victims and they can be able
to forgive their offenders.
6. My experience in the long distance was a very hard one
because I had so many challenges not academically but
the places where I stay in they don’t give me enough
space to read and study and also finish my assignment
which was very hard for me. But it was very worth it
because it also teachers discipline is most cases but this
module was very exciting because it teachers practical
things and things that are known in most cases in our
community and also the things we experience in our
communities.
Group communication has helped me a lot because I was
able to identify the things which were difficult to me and
the group of students that I studied with they were able
to help me with any challenges that I face. This group
helps a lot because you are able to voice out your
challenges and also you can identify the solution together
step by step. So it has helped me a lot and discussions
they really help a lot because you are not alone in what
you face.
Working with other students broadens your mind
because you are able to learn new things and also you are
able to approach certain questions with different strategy
as you learn from each other as a group. According to me
working with other students it helps a lot because you
learn differently and you learn as more likely like peers
and that is very important.
The content of this module is very good because it deals
with social issues and challenges and also mostly it deals
with challenges in the attaining justice in our social life
which is very important since in our communities there a
lot of injustice happening in our circles. This module
covers mainly social justice theories and how to solve
them since it is very important to solve them and also to
apply the justice principles. In this module I was able to
explore human rights in another measure and I was able
to learn more about these rights as they are very
important and I learnt on strategies to promote social
change and social justice.
