LinkedIn Tips for Freshers
1. Reach Out Without Hesitation
● Don’t be shy, connect with people in your field daily. The biggest mistake I have made in my undergrad
is overthinking and missing out on opportunities.
● Make it a habit to send at least three connection requests every day, followed by a short message.
● Example template: Hi [Name], I came across your post about [Job Role] and wanted to check if you're
still hiring. I’d love to explore how I can contribute. Let me know if we can chat!
2. Engage More on LinkedIn
● If you spend two hours on Instagram, try four hours on LinkedIn instead.
● Like and comment on posts, even if you don’t feel ready to post your own content.
● Regular engagement boosts visibility, commenting consistently can help you get noticed.
● And if you really struggle to think what to comment, chat gpt can always help you :)
3. Smart Job Search Strategy
● Use LinkedIn search effectively:
○ Type "[Job Role] + [Location]" and filter for posts from the past 24 hours.
○ Many posts have low reach, if you’re fast, you’ll have a better chance of standing out.
○ This trick helped me in securing one of part-time jobs in a start-up.
● Commenting on recruiter posts can also help increase visibility.
4. Cold Message Templates
● General Job Inquiry: Hi [Name], I came across your post about [Job Role] and was really excited
about the opportunity. I’d love to explore how I can contribute. Let me know if we can chat!
● Content/Marketing Roles: Hi [Name], I’m a content creator who has grown my own page to [X]
followers in [Y] months and managed a page with over [Z] million followers. Your project sounds
exciting—let me know if we can discuss how I can contribute!
● Networking with Industry Experts: Hi [Name], I really admire the work you’re doing with
[Project/Company]. Podcasting is something I’d love to explore in the future. Would love to connect
and learn from your journey!
● Scroll down and you will find more templates :)
5. Follow Up Once
● Recruiters receive tons of messages, don’t assume silence means rejection.
● Follow up once after 5-7 days with a polite message (Please keep aside your ego while applying to jobs)
● Example template: Hi [Name], just following up on my last message. I’d love the opportunity to discuss
this further if you're available!
6. Using ChatGPT for LinkedIn Messages
● A smart way to draft messages: copy the job description + your resume and ask ChatGPT to
generate a LinkedIn message.
● Sample prompt: "Thank you for connecting! I want to send a short LinkedIn message to the recruiter
for this [Job Role] at [Company Name]. Here’s the job description: [Paste JD]. Here’s my resume:
[Paste Resume]. Please write a concise, natural-sounding message, and tone it down so it doesn’t seem
AI-generated."
7. Rebuilding Your LinkedIn Profile (Coming Soon!)
● Your profile should reflect your skills, experiences, and what you bring to the table.
● I’ll be sharing a detailed guide soon on optimizing your profile for better visibility. Do not forget to
follow me!
8. Subject
Never forget to write a subject when sending your first text on LinkedIn. It makes a big difference!
9. Tip
When connecting with someone for the first time, if LinkedIn gives you the option to send a small message, use
it! Don’t be lazy, just send a short text.
