Abstract:
Herbal Lipstick is a cosmetic product containing pigments, oils, fragrance, preservatives,
colors, texture and protection to the lips. Lipstick formulation is used to augment the beauty
of lips. Herbal lipsticks are gaining popularity because natural cosmetics are safe. It is easy to
use and handle by women. This product has increased and choice shades of color, texture
and luster have changed and become wider. In market hundreds of shades of colors are
available to satisfy the demand by the women's. Herbal lipsticks having minimum side effects.
The herbal lipstick having natural ingredients or nutrients it is safe to use that keep lips
healthy. This review mainly focuses on natural ingredients, formulation, extracts, and
defects in lipstick. There is no any side effect in herbal lipstick that's why we are doing herbal
lipstick. Also doing the evaluations parameters like smoothness, greatness, melting point,
breaking point and pH parameters.

Introduction:
It is a cosmetic product to enhance women's beauty. Herbal lipsticks are used to impart an
attractive color, texture and protects to lips. Lipstick is a cosmetic product containing waxes,
oils, pigments and dyes, alcohol and fragrance, preservatives and antioxidants, colors,
surfactants. These lipstick preparations do not damage to our lips and no side effect. They
involve a colors change as well as shine and smooth out of wrinkles and folds on lips. It is a
most famous cosmetics items and available in different styles, design and packaging of
lipstick. Lipstick having many advantages it should be protects lips from dryness and
cracking. It brightens your smile and provides hydration to our [Link] should be free from
grittiness should be nondrying required plasticity. In herbal lipstick many natural nutrients
available safe for lips. It is free from chemicals like paraben, sulphate, phthate and others its
unsafe to consume that's why we are doing herbal lipstick like bees wax , beetroot juice,
castor oil , vanilla essence.
Herbal lipsticks having ideal characteristic:
• It is smooth and easy to apply.
• It is non-irritant and non-toxic.
• It’s have required plasticity, different odor, color, texture and packaging etc.
• It is stable in shelf life time and it is free from bloom and sweating during
storage of lipstick.

Literature Review

Herbal cosmetics are in increasing demand all over the world and are a priceless gift of
nature. There is a wide range of herbal products to suit the beauty regimen. Due to various
adverse effects of available synthetic preparation, the present work was formulation of an
herbal lipstick having minimal or no side effects. Herbal lipstick formulated using bees wax,
white soft paraffin, castor oil, olive oil, lemon oil, peppermint oil, shikakai powder, vanilla
essence and natural pigments of turmeric, cocoa powder, raktachandan and ratanjot bark .All
the formulations evaluated for their quality, showing the satisfactory results. Formulation 4
(containing ratanjot pigment) is the best formulation of all formulated herbal lipstick as
compare to other formulations.

mean cosmetics that are prepared from the herbal origin. Nowadays herbal cosmetics are in
great demand worldwide to alter and enhance the appearance of the human body and herbal
lipstick is one of the popular cosmetics. Herbal preparations such as herbal tonics, herbal
tablets, herbal shampoo, herbal creams, herbal pastes, herbal lipstick, etc. have become
famous among consumers, especially women. There are several advantages of herbal lipstick
over synthetic ones. Herbal lipsticks are smooth and easy to apply, non-irritant, non-toxic,
free from grittiness, and have a pleasant taste, odor and flavor. Herbal lipstick is formulated
by using oils, waxes, fragrances, antioxidants, coloring matter, preservatives, etc. The main
objective of this work is to formulate and evaluate herbal lipstick from beetroot as a natural
coloring matter to avoid the side effects of synthetic formulations. The lipstick contains
synthetic colors that may cause severe side effects on the lips such as dryness cracking, skin
irritation, skin discoloration, acne, and cancer. This can be avoided by using natural coloring
agents from various herbal sources. The formulated lipsticks were evaluated with several
parameters like color, melting point, breaking point, force of application, PH, solubility, skin
irritation, perfume stability, and aging stability. Among all the formulations, the F4
formulation was found to meet all evaluation criteria and have fewer or no side effects.

Lipstick is the most used beautifying agent added to cosmetics to increase the elegance of the
lips. Lipstick is a type of makeup product that contain a huge quantity of pigments, candles,
oils and emollient that gives colors, texture and lip protection. Several natural sources of
excipients are used in the formation of lipstick. The regular use if synthetic colors in lipstick
can lead to severe consequences such as skin discoloration, skin irritation, acne and cancer.
Side effect can be reduced using plant-based plant extract based in the plants. This review on
lipstick includes type, formulation method, divers color pigment extraction, natural oil, taste,
physical evaluation and quality control lipstick in industry, molds and lipstick defects.
Cosmetic are utilized to improve the appearance of the face. At present, the requirements of
natural cosmetic cosmetics are increasing day by day and are initiable natural gifts. There are
several natural products which are used by women now a days. Unlike synthesis, plant
cosmetics must be for human health. These formulations are based on herbs that always
attract considerable attention due to their good activity and relatively small side effect with
synthetic components.

The present study was aimed to formulate and evaluate Herbal Lipstick using beet root. The
Olive oil, bees wax, carnaba wax, acacia, beet route, lemon juice were selected for
formulation and evaluation of Herbal Lipstick. The herbal lipsticks were formulated as per
general method of lipstick formulation. Three formulations (F1, F2, F3) of Herbal Lipstick
were prepared and lipstick were evaluated for appearance, melting Point, solubility, breaing
Point, surface anamolies and pH studies gave satisfactory result. F1 was found to be the best
and acceptable formulation among all three formlation whose pH balance 6.5, smoothy
texture with no defect and has good breaking point (24) compared to other formulation.
5. Nuha Rasheed, Syed Abdul Rahman, Samreen Hafsa (2020)
The safety and reliability of natural products have triggered the need to produce herbal-based
products. The use of herbal cosmetics has become increasingly popular among present-day
women. Synthetic coloring agents being used in cosmetics have been found to produce
carcinogenic effects. The objective of the present study involved the preparation and
evaluation of herbal lipsticks using color matter from natural sources such as carrot, beetroot,
turmeric, tomatoes, pomegranate, and cocoa. Different natural ingredients such as beeswax,
carnauba wax, vanilla essence, castor oil, white soft paraffin, strawberry essence, vitamin E,
lemon juice was used to formulate herbal lipstick. Prepared herbal lipstick was evaluated for
different evaluation tests such as color, texture, pH, melting point, breaking point, surface
anomalies, aging, and perfume stability.

Coloring skin particularly skin of face and lips is an ancient practice going back to
prehistoric period. In present days the use of such product has increased and choice of shades
of color, texture and luster have been changed and become wider. This can be observed from
the fact that lipsticks are marked in hundreds of shades of colors to satisfy the demand of
women. The present investigation was done to formulate lipstick containing herbal
ingredients, since lipsticks are one of the key cosmetics to be used by the women. Attempt
was also made to evaluate the formulated herbal lipsticks. From the present investigation it
was found that that the HL, F-3 having promising results such as pH 6.89+ 0.12, melting
point 59-62, thixotropy 10.5 etc

properties. Lipstick is the most commonly used cosmetic in make-up to enhance the beauty of
the lips. Lipstick is a cosmetic product that contains pigment, wax, various oils, and
emollients to provide colour, texture, and protection to the lips. The natural lipstick's
ingredients are all natural and safe to use. The herbal supplement that keeps your lips healthy.
The use of synthetic colours in lipstick on a regular basis may result in serious side effects
such as skin discoloration, skin irritation, acne, and cancer. The use of herbal colour extracts

Chapter 3; Need, Objectives And Plan Of
Work
Need:
The present work formulation and evaluation of herbal lipstick was aimed to formulate a
lipstick using herbal ingredients with a hope to minimize the side effects as produced by the
available synthetic ones.
Herbal lipstick has been tremendous boost in use of cosmetic by women.
It also help the medicinal that softening, reduce inflammation, moisturizing the lip.
Lipstick is a cosmetic that applies color, texture, and protection to the lips. Many colors and
types of lipstick exist. Some lipsticks are also lip balms, to add both color and hydration.
Objectives:
The objective of the present study involved the preparation and evaluation of herbal lipsticks
using color matter from natural sources. Different natural ingredients such as beeswax,
vanilla essence, castor oil, white soft paraffin, strawberry essence, pigment, acacia vitamin E,
orange juice, perfume was used to formulate herbal lipstick. Prepared herbal lipstick was
evaluated for different evaluation tests such as color, texture, pH, melting point, breaking
point, surface anomalies, aging, and perfume stability.
AIM AND SCOPE OF PRESENT WORK:
The present work was designed on basis of different approaches of guided study on herbal
lipstick. The list of ingredients was made. Then the literature review was done. The materials
were collected and method of preparation was studied and the identification tests for coloring
matter was performed of various herbal lipsticks were formulated. The prepared formulations
were evaluated for various properties and results were tabulated.
Plan of Work:
The present work was designed on basis of different approaches of guided study on herbal
lipstick. In the next semester I will do practical work on the Formulation And Evalution Of
Herbal Lipstick. I Will use different types of parameters for Evalution Of Lipstick. The

herbal lipstick nourishes the lip skin. This lipstick supplies vital nourishment to the lip. It

Methods
PROCEDURE:
Weight all ingredients in porcelain dish.
Place the porcelain dish in water bath with all ingredient are melted.
Then beeswax is mix with olive oil with constantly.
Then added the acacia to the mixture.
Pigment and Beet root juice are also added as are coloring,
Antioxidant and preservative.
White soft paraffin is added as are moisturizing to lip.
Then added the vitamin E as are the new cell develop and smoother.
Flavoring agent is strawberry essential is added. Then also
added perfume for good smell Place in the
freezer.
Scrap the top layer by sharp knife and remove stick by the mould.
Pass the lipstick through the flame is quick fashion it give gloss to
the surface layer of the lipstick.
Performing softening temperature test.

Melting Point
It's very essential to maintain the uniform standard for herbal lipstick by the capillary tube.
It's an indication of the limit of safe storage.
Take a 5 capillary tube each contains the sufficient amount of lipstick.
Allow the tube to stand for appropriate time at the prescribed temperature in capillary tube
is taken at the melting point.
Repeat the operation 3 times using other capillary tube and calculate the result.

Breaking point
The breaking point is done to determine the strength of herbal lipstick.
The lipstick to held horizontally in socket ½ inches away from the edge of support.
The weight is gradually increased by a specific value (10gm) at specific interval of 30 second
and weight at which breaks is considered as the breaking point.

Conclusion:
An herbal lipstick is used to rejuvenate the lips muscles maintain the elasticity of the skin,
remove adhered dirt particles and improve the blood circulation. The benefits of Herbal
based cosmetics are their nontoxic nature.
It nourishes the lip skin. This lipstick supplies vital nourishment to the lip. It helps in the

Wrinkles, Fine lines, can be effectively controlled by using natural lips. In this work, we
found excellent properties of the herbal lipstick and further studies are needed to be
performed to ascertain more useful benefits of herbal lipstick as cosmetics. Natural
remedies are accepted nowadays with open hands as they are safer with fewer side effects
than the chemical based products. Herbal formulations are required in large amounts to
fulfill the needs of the growing world market. It is an effective attempt to formulate the
herbal lipstick containing different natural nutrients.
