A study on performance of education loan with special
reference to Karnataka Bank.
1.1. Introduction
Education never ends it is not said without reason. We are educated all our lives
and getting and education not only is a great achievement but also something that
gives you the tools to find your own way in the world. Education is the basic
need of every human being that to in the basic fast-growing world.
Education is central to the Human Resources Development and empowerment in any
country. National and State level policies are framed to ensure that this basic need of the
population is met through appropriate public and private sector initiatives. While government
endeavor to provide primary education to all on a universal basis, higher education is
progressively moving into the domain of private sector. With a gradual reduction in
government subsidies higher education is getting more and more costly and hence the need
for institutional funding in this area.
• The scope of education has widened both in India and abroad covering new courses in
diversified areas. Development of human capital is a national priority and it should be the
endeavor of all that no deserving student is denied opportunity to pursue higher education
for want to financial support. Loans for education should be seen as an investment for
economic development and prosperity. Knowledge and information would be the driving
force for economic growth in the coming years.
The Student Loan Scheme was introduced in 1992. It provides access to funding for course fees,
course – related costs and living costs- so that students can defer paying for their share of the costs
until the benefits of their study are realized in the income they earn. It is an income- contingent
scheme, whereby repayments depend on the earnings of borrowers. Since its establishment in
1992, more than million people have used the Student Loan Scheme.
Loans for education have never thought about it is as a feasible arrangement. Education loans
can open never panorama. As in regard to education aspirations. Education loans are open to all
people in all its myriad forms. An extensive range of student and parent loans are presented under
category of education loans.
There are many type of education loans are there. Discerning about the type of education loans
will help in making the accurate decision. Private education loans are offered to people so that they
can provide financial backup their education plans. Private education loans program are optimum
for both undergraduate and graduate studies. Formal education is requisite for future success.
Though this is not a hard and fast rule but education certainly helps in gaining an upper hand.

collected by staff officers.
Of the Karnataka Bank, the interview was informal in nature in order to gain as
much information as possible a structured questionnaire is prepared with open

A Sample technique is reframe adopted for conducting the survey was simple random of adult
individuals. Sample size for survey conducted was 100 individuals c comparing of youths.
The sample collected directly by conducting survey , interacting and questionnaire methods to
identify easily.
Tools and Techniques
The tools used to collect the primary data was questionnaire, this helped to extract the data that
can answer the objectives of the study.
For all the data collected, an in- depth theoretical and statistical analysis was done tabulation was
made for each data. Inference was drawn out of their tables and is mentioned in addition to the
expiration of the tables.

with special reference to Karnataka Bank ‘’of Shivamogga city. The field survey is confined to
Shivamogga only. The scope is limited Shivamogga. Considering the shortage of time and the
cost factor. The employers in a branch of Shivamogga gave a co-operation to complete the project
