Tabular Format for Simplex Method

The document outlines the Simplex Table-1 format for a maximization case in linear programming. It includes steps for modifying the objective function, identifying key columns and rows, and calculating new values for key and non-key rows. The process aims to prepare Table 2 for further analysis.

Simplex Table-1 Format for Maximization Case

In below write Modified Objective Function

Contributio Basic Basic 0 0 Minimum

n/Unit Solution Variable
(CJ) X1 X2 S1 S2 Ratio
Variable Value
0 S1 Write down Cofficient of Modified Constraint 1

0 S2 Write down Cofficient of Modified Constraint 2

0 S3 Write down Cofficient of Modified Constraint 3 (If any)

Here S1, S2 & S3 are ZJ

Slack Variable CJ-ZJ
Now Find Following:
1. Key Column (Maximum Value of CJ-ZJ)
2. Key Row (Minimum Ratio )
3. Key Element (Intersection of Key Row and Key Column)
4. All other rows then Key rows are NON KEY ROWS
5. Note down Corrsponding Value of Key Element in Non Key Row

Now Calculate New Values of Key Rows and Non Key Rows and prepare Table 2
1. New Key Row Value by Dividing all old values by Key Element
2. New Non Key Row values:
Old Value of Non Key Row - (Corresponding Value of Key Element in Non Key Rows X New Key Row
value)
