In a Clock
➢ The long hand is the minute hand.
➢ The short hand is the hour hand.
➢ The thinnest hand is the second hand.
➢ The hour hand goes around the clock two times a day.
➢ On a digital clock, o’clock = :00
➢ The minute hand goes around the clock once every hour.
Analog Clock
➢ The number before the colon (:) indicates the hour and the number after
the colon (:) indicates the minutes. For e.g., 4:15 = 4 hours: 15 minutes.
➢ Each day is divided into two halves. From midnight till noon is called
am (ante meridiem). From noon until midnight is called pm (post

Hours to Minutes: To convert hours into minutes we multiply the number
of hours by 60.
Time Conversions
60 seconds = 1 minute
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
7 days = 1 week
365 days = 1 year
1 Decade = 10 years
1 Century = 100 years
1 Millennium = 1,000 years
52 weeks and 1 day = 1 ordinary year
52 weeks and 2 days = 1 leap year
