Executive Summary
This report outlines my field project at Bharti Sahakari Bank, Akurdi, where I
engaged in various banking operations and financial services. The report covers

The project was conducted to understand the banking operations, customer
service strategies, and financial processes at Bharti Sahakari Bank. The study
included shadowing professionals, assisting customers, and analyzing banking
software and transaction handling.
Role Undertaken:
As a field project trainee, I assisted in customer service activities, observed loan
processing, handled account-related inquiries, and analysed operational
challenges faced by the bank.
Key Learning:
Gained practical exposure to banking operations and financial transactions.
Understood the importance of customer relationship management in
cooperative banking.
Identified the challenges in loan processing and digital banking adoption.
Developed analytical and problem-solving skills related to banking

Introduction
The 40-hour field project at Bharti Sahakari Bank, Pune, gave me a great
opportunity to learn about how a bank works. During this time, I observed various
banking activities like handling customer accounts, loan processing, and digital
banking services. I also understood the role of cooperative banks in helping
people with financial services. This hands-on experience helped me learn about
banking procedures, rules, and the importance of good customer service. This
report covers everything I learned during my time at the bank.
Objective of the Field Project
This field project aimed to gain practical exposure to banking operations,
customer service, and financial transactions at Bharti Sahakari Bank. The project
aimed to provide insights into cooperative banking and understand its role in the
financial sector. The project was conducted over 40 hours, during which I
observed and participated in various banking activities.
Scope and Limitations
Scope: This field project provided an opportunity to understand the real-
world operations of a cooperative bank, including customer interactions,
transaction handling, and loan processing. It allowed for hands-on
exposure to banking procedures and digital banking adoption.
Limitations: Due to confidentiality policies, access to high-level financial
data and decision-making processes was restricted. Additionally, time
constraints limited the ability to explore long-term banking strategies.

Problem Statement or Tasks Executed
Tasks Performed:
Assisting customers with account opening and transactions, ensuring all
necessary documents were collected and verified.
Observed loan processing, understood the criteria for loan approval, and
verified necessary paperwork.
Shadowing professionals in handling cash deposits and withdrawals,
learning about cash flow management and security measures.
Understanding the bank’s customer service strategies, including how they
handle queries and complaints, and provide financial advice.
Analysing banking software used for operations, exploring its efficiency
and usability for customers and employees.
Problem Statement:
One of the key challenges observed was the slow processing time for loan
applications due to manual documentation. This resulted in increased customer
waiting times and inefficiencies in approval procedures. The primary reasons for
this included:
Excessive paperwork and manual verification leading to delays.
Lack of a streamlined digital document management system.
Dependency on traditional banking practices limiting efficiency.
Insufficient customer awareness about digital banking facilities.
Proposed Solutions:
Implementing a digital documentation and verification system to reduce
paperwork and processing time.
Train staff to adopt digital workflows for improved efficiency.
Encouraging customers to use digital platforms for quicker loan
application and processing.
Enhancing customer awareness programs about digital banking services to
reduce manual dependency.

Conclusion:
The field project at Bharti Sahakari Bank, Pune, was a valuable learning
experience that provided practical knowledge of banking operations. It helped
me understand how customer accounts, loans, and digital banking services
work, along with the role of cooperative banks in financial growth. Observing
the daily functions of the bank improved my understanding of banking
procedures, customer service, and regulatory guidelines. Overall, this project
gave me hands-on exposure to the banking sector, which will be useful for my
future career.
