🎭 PROLOGUE: "Into the Island"

BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken, solemn):

Upon a distant island, lost to the memory of the world, a tribe dwelt—
Their days shaped by the tides, their voices rising in prayer to Bathala.

🎶 MUSICAL PART 1 – "Call to the Sea"

🎵
TRIBE (singing):
In the morning light we rise,
Casting nets beneath the skies.
With the rhythm of the tide,
We sail where the sea and spirits guide.

🎵
BABAYLAN (sung):
O Bathala ng Katubigan,
Hear the drums upon the sand...
Guard our sails, guide our hands,
Bring us bounty from your land.

🎵
TRIBE (chanting softly):
Into the sea we cast our plea,
Safe return and catch for thee...
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken):
They come ashore, their spirits lifted by the gods’ favor,
Carrying the treasures of the deep sea…

🎶 MUSICAL PART 2 – "The Catch Returns"

🎵
TRIBE (sung joyfully):
Praise to the tide, to the god of wave—

🎵
Our nets are full, our hearts are brave!
Pull! Lift! Share! Feast!
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken):
Returning to the village, the air was thick with anticipation.
The Datu and Babaylan stepped forward,
Speaking of a grand ceremony to honor the Bathala ng Katubigan…

🎶 MUSICAL PART 3 – "The Ritual"

🎵
DATU (sung):
Prepare the fire, the dance, the feast!
Let our thanks to the gods be released!

🎵
TRIBE (responding):
Dance the rites, sing the praise,
Honor the god who fed our days!
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken):
As the sacred rites drew to a close,
The Datu addressed his people with deep gratitude.
In reverence, the tribe knelt before their leader…

🎶 MUSICAL PART 4 – "Gratitude"

🎵
DATU (sung warmly):
To you, my people, hearts so true—
This feast of joy belongs to you!

🎵
TRIBE (kneeling, in harmony):
To you, O Datu, we give our vow—
With strength and grace, we follow now!
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken, ominous):
From the throne of a distant land, a great king,
Consumed by visions of glory,
Summoned his armies to conquer all beneath the sun…

🎶 MUSICAL PART 5 – "March of the Conqueror"

🎵
KING (booming):
Sound the horns! Light the flame!
Every shore shall bear my name!

🎵
SOLDIERS (chant):
Take! Rule! Burn! Rise!
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken):
The Datu and the Babaylan, walking along the shore,
Saw the great ship approach...
They welcomed the strangers, unaware of the betrayal to come..

🎶 MUSICAL PART 6 – "The Welcome and the Wound"

🎵
DATU & BABAYLAN (sung with hope):
Welcome, wanderers from sea,
Take our food and sanctuary.

🎵
STRANGERS (under breath):
Smile, speak... then strike beneath...

🎵
BABAYLAN (gasping, wounded):
You bear no peace... you wear deceit...

🎵
ENSEMBLE (dark tones):
But the gods were watching near...
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken, intense):
Enraged by the treachery, the Bathala descended—
Cloaked in divine fury, casting judgment...
And with the force of the eternal, drove the intruders from the sacred land.
🎶 MUSICAL PART 7 – "Wrath of the Gods"

🎵
BATHALAS (powerful, layered):
You dare defile this sacred strand?

🎵
Now feel the wrath of gods of land!
Leave! Flee! Fall! Crawl!

🎵
STRANGERS (defeated):
We’ll return... with fire and all...
BABAYLAN’S NARRATION (spoken, quiet, reverent):
The land was safe... for now.

🎶
But vengeance would one day stir beneath the waves.
FINAL REFRAIN – "Into the Island (Reprise)"

🎵
ALL (soft, layered reprise):
Into the tide, into the prayer,

🎵
We sing for peace, for gods who care...
Guard the shore, protect the land,
Guide us still with divine hand.

[END OF PROLOGUE]
Dialogue

- Start of Preparation of the Tribe -

Babaylan Aluna (Narrator):

“And so they prepare not with fear, but with memory,
not with despair, but with the unbroken rhythm of the land.
For when gods watch, and ancestors listen,
no spear is thrown alone.”

[As Babaylan Aluna says, "no spear is thrown alone," the tribe begins to gather.
Datu Magani leads the warriors in formation, while the craftspeople prepare their
tools. Elders offer counsel, and the children watch in silence, sensing the gravity of
the moment. The tribe unites under the Datu's command, readying for the coming
war.]

As Datu Magani steps forward, his presence commands the tribe's attention. His
posture is proud, his voice strong and purposeful as he announces the preparations
for the impending war. The warriors stand tall, nodding in agreement, while the
craftspeople pause, their tools resting in their hands. The elders exchange solemn
glances, understanding the seriousness of the moment, while the children, sensing
the shift in the air, watch with wide eyes. The tribe gathers in silence, united under
the Datu’s command, ready for the battle ahead.

Datu Magani:
“Prepare the roots of strength, the salves of healing.
If war is to come, our land shall shield us.”

[After saying his lines, Datu Magani gestures to his warriors and craftsmen to begin
preparing for battle. Lakan, stepping forward, speaks with the weight of experience,
his hand resting on the hilt of his weapon as he turns his gaze toward the trees,
channeling his strength into words of bravery and resolve.]

Lakan (Right Hand of the Datu):

“The blades of the forest shall serve as our teeth,
and the rivers shall whisper our movements in silence.”

[As he says "the blades of the forest," Lakan mimics a slashing motion with his hand,
as if drawing a blade from the air itself. His words are precise and powerful.]
After Lakan draws his sword and raises it high, its blade catching the light, he
passes it to Malvar, the craftsman. Malvar steps forward with purpose, his
movements deliberate and powerful. As he runs his fingers over the freshly forged
weapon, his eyes gleam with pride. He reverently showcases the strength of the
blade, the craftsmanship of the iron and wood that will protect them in battle.

Malvar (Tribal Craftsman):

“Wood shall not break, and iron shall not bend,
for these are forged in the names of those who came before.”

[Malvar raises his hammer, then gently places it down, his hand resting on the
weapon as he speaks:]

- End of Preparation of the Tribe -

– Start of Preparation of the Conquerors –

Babaylan Aluna (Narrator):

“Far across the waters, in a land of cold stone and steel,
the ones who sought to rule returned in shame.
Their Adelantado knelt, not from respect, but from defeat,
speaking of the gods who rose with the tribe.
But the King, in silence, felt only fury.
With fire in his eyes and vengeance in his heart,
he called his men once more.
Flags rose. Swords gleamed.
And the march of war began again louder, heavier, and without mercy.”

[As Babaylan Aluna’s voice fades, the stage shifts to reveal the stone halls of the
Spanish court. Soldiers in formation stand rigid, their eyes forward, and their armor
gleams under the cold light. Don Severino, the Adelantado, kneels, his cloak torn
and stained from the failed campaign. Before him sits King Fernando, tall and
unmoving on his throne. A silence fills the room, broken only by the faint sound of
armor shifting.]

Don Severino (Adelantado):

“Your Majesty, the tribe... they fought with the strength of the gods themselves.
Bathala shielded them from our might.
We were forced to retreat their land, their gods,
they would not yield to us.”

[The King stands, his face a mask of anger and disdain. His voice cuts through the
silence like a blade.]

King Fernando:
“You speak of gods...
but what of our right to claim what is ours?
We do not bow to gods
we conquer them.”

[With a single motion, King Fernando raises his hand, signaling the return to the
islands. The soldiers in the background begin to stir. A shadowy figure, General
Valerio, steps forward.]

King Fernando (Royalty):

“We will not fail again. Gather more men. Prepare more weapons. The island will
fall, and nothing will stand in our way.”

[At the King’s command, General Valerio marches toward a long wooden table
where weapons are laid out swords, muskets, and pieces of armor, all gleaming
under the dim light. Royal Blacksmith Tomas steps forward, his face hardened with
determination, carrying a freshly forged sword. He places it on the table with a loud
clang.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

“The island, its people, their gods…
They will fall before the might of our steel.
This time, we bring more than blades we bring the weight of an empire.”

[Tomas, the Royal Blacksmith, picks up a sword and examines it closely. He slides it
along a sharpening stone, and sparks fly as the blade is honed to a razor-sharp
edge. The sound of metal scraping against stone fills the air, a rhythmic sound of
impending destruction.]

Tomas (Royal Blacksmith):

“These blades are forged for one purpose
to carve through bone and flesh.
We will claim what is ours, by fire and blood.
The island shall bow, or it shall burn.”

[The General steps back, watching as Tomas sharpens more weapons. The soldiers
begin to stir, gathering their armor and weapons. They move swiftly, as if the weight
of the moment presses down on them. General Valerio turns to a nearby captain
and barks an order.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

“More men! We need more warriors to crush them. Gather the infantry, bring in the
archers, and reinforce the navy.
Every soldier will march with fire in their hearts and iron in their hands.”

[The captain nods and rushes off, leaving the General and Tomas alone as the
preparations intensify. Tomas hands the sword to General Valerio, who tests its
weight, his eyes gleaming with cold resolve.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

“This island will not be a place of gods.
It will be a place of conquerors. We will show them what it means to defy the
empire.”

[The General raises the sword, its sharp edge reflecting the light, signaling the
beginning of the final preparations. Tomas steps to the side, continuing his work on
the weapons. The soldiers gather their gear, donning armor and checking their
muskets. The rhythmic sound of their movement fills the camp, growing louder,
more deliberate.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

“Prepare yourselves. The conquest begins now. We leave no stone unturned, no
man untested.
The island will fall. The gods will fall.
And we will rise victorious.”

[As the soldiers gather, their steps become a synchronized march. The General looks
toward the horizon, his voice low and filled with anticipation.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

“This time, we will not return until the island is ours, or it is dust beneath our feet.”

[With that final command, the soldiers move in unison, their banners raised high.
The camp becomes a flurry of activity, each man preparing for the war to come.
Weapons are sharpened, armor is donned, and the echoes of marching feet grow
louder, signaling the start of their vengeful return.]

– End of Preparation of the Conquerors –

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):
“They had begun their descent into the unknown
The sea carried them forward
iron hearts aboard wooden beasts
The winds howled like spirits warning them away
but the ships sailed on
each wave a drumbeat of war
each gust, the breath of fate
Yet within the belly of the lead ship
a flicker of doubt grew amidst the fire”

[The scene opens on the biggest Spanish ship. Soldiers are lined up on the deck,
checking their weapons and sharpening their blades. The ocean waves crash below
them. Inside General Valerio’s cabin, lit only by a swinging lantern, a young soldier
stands nervously.]

Marco (Disillusioned Soldier):

"General Valerio, I request your ear... I must speak"

[General Valerio looks up from a war map, stern and unreadable.]

General Valerio (Royal Commander):

"Speak, then. Make it worth my time"

Marco (Disillusioned Soldier):

"We’ve crossed these waters once
We lost men, brothers
And now we sail again, not to defend, but to destroy
I can’t… I can’t watch our kin die again for the pride of kings"

General Valerio:
"Are you saying you would abandon your oath
Turn your back on your king
On your empire"

Marco:
"I swore to protect, not to slaughter
This is no conquest, it is vengeance masked in glory
There are men here who still carry the screams of the last war in their dreams
We do not fight gods
We fight people, people who only defend their home"
General Valerio:
"And so you choose cowardice
You speak like a traitor
Like one who forgets where his loyalty lies"

Marco:
"If loyalty demands blood from the innocent
Then I refuse to be loyal"

[A flash of steel. The General draws his sword.]

General Valerio:
"Then you are no longer a soldier
You are a danger to the mission and to the crown"

[Before Marco can react, Valerio strikes. The blade is swift. Marco gasps and
collapses. The room is silent again, save for the soft creak of the ship.]

[Two soldiers enter and see Marco lifeless on the floor.]

General Valerio (calmly):

"Toss him to the sea. Let the water have his weakness"

[The soldiers hesitate, then obey, dragging Marco’s body out. The lantern continues
to swing.]

[General Valerio turns back to his map.]

General Valerio:
"Forget what you saw
He was already dead in spirit
We continue forward
No more doubts
No more delays
The island awaits our fire and steel"

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

“And so, a voice of reason was silenced by the blade
The sea swallowed not just a man, but a moment of mercy
And the warships sailed on
heavier not with weight, but with wrath”
Narration (Babaylan Aluna):
"But as the conquerors sailed toward their fate,
the winds carried more than just salt and sea that morning.
Three fishermen, with nets still wet, saw it.
A fleet of shadows rising on the horizon.
Tall ships with sails like wings, cutting through the waters like blades.
They ran, hearts pounding like war drums.
Not just to warn, but to awaken the soul of the tribe.
Before the fire touched the shore."

Kalaw (Fisherman 1):

"Datu! Babaylan! We saw them!"

Datu Magani:
"What do you mean, Tomas? What have you seen?"

Maglinti (Fisherman 2):

"They’re close. Spanish ships. Five, maybe more. Their sails are white like bone."

Bangkaw (Fisherman 3):

"The sea is full of them. They're heading straight to our shore. We have little time."

[The Datu narrows his eyes toward the direction of the coast. He doesn’t speak yet.
Babaylan Aluna steps forward, raising her hands. Her voice is calm and steady.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"Bathala, hear us now.
Strengthen the hearts of the brave.
Let our ancestors walk beside our warriors.
Let the wind be our ally and the earth our shield.
Let no foreign fire consume what we are."

[She places her hand gently on Datu Magani’s chest, the touch warm and
grounding.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"Your blood carries the memory of Datus,
but it is your spirit they will test.
Speak to the gods, Datu.
Ask them not for victory,
but for clarity in the storm ahead."

[The Datu breathes deeply, his gaze distant. He looks at her, searching her eyes as
though trying to find an anchor amidst the weight of the moment.]
Datu Magani:
"Thank you, Babaylan.
But this moment, this burden, is mine to bear alone.
The weight of our people's fate rests within me.
The future of our land, our children, our ancestors—
it’s all in my hands now."

Babaylan Aluna:
"I understand, Datu.
But remember, even in solitude,
you are not truly alone.
We are the earth beneath your feet,
the sky above you,
the blood of those who came before."

[She gently places her hand on his chest once more, her touch steady and
reassuring.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"Your ancestors walk beside you in every step you take.
They will guide your heart, as long as you remain true to them,
true to yourself, and true to the land you protect."

[The Datu nods, closing his eyes for a moment to gather his thoughts. His voice is
soft, but the weight of his words hangs in the air.]

Datu Magani:
"I must face this battle with clear eyes, Babaylan.
But how do I know if I am truly prepared?
What if the storm ahead is too much for me to bear?"

Babaylan Aluna:
"The storm is fierce, but so are you, Datu.
It is not the thunder that defines the warrior,
but the calm they find within themselves,
even when the sky is filled with rage."

[She steps back, her voice taking on a more solemn tone as she raises her hands to
the sky.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"I too will be alone, as I pray for the strength of our people.
I will ask Bathala to watch over you and our warriors,
to give you the clarity you seek."

Babaylan Aluna:
"May the winds carry our words,
may the earth guide our steps,
and may our ancestors watch over us,
as we stand between our land and the storm that seeks to swallow it whole."

[The Datu looks at her, the weight of her words settling within him. He takes a deep
breath, as if he can almost feel the presence of his ancestors gathering around him.]

Datu Magani:
"Thank you, Babaylan.
Your words give me strength,
more than any blade or armor could."

[He turns, walking slowly toward his kubo, the village quiet behind him. As he enters
the kubo, he begins to don his armor piece by piece, each motion deliberate and
slow. He pauses in front of a bowl of water, looking into his reflection. The music
begins, subtle but growing with intensity.]

🎵 Start of "Loyal Brave True" 🎵

Datu Magani:
"War is not freedom.
Over my shoulder,
I see a clearer view.
All for my family,
Reason I'm breathing,
Everything to lose."
Should I ask myself in the water,
what a warrior would do?
Tell me, underneath my armor,
Am I loyal, brave, and true?
Am I loyal, brave, and true?"

[After this scene, it shifts to Babaylan Aluna standing in the village, the wind swirling
around her. She raises her hands once more, her voice low but firm.]
Babaylan Aluna:
"The storm is upon us,
but so too is our strength.
In the face of war, we remain steadfast.
For our land, for our people,
we are loyal, brave, and true."

Babaylan Aluna:
"Bathala, hear me.
I call upon the spirits of our ancestors,
the warriors who have fought before us,
the guardians of the land and sea.
Grant us the strength to face the storm ahead.
May our hearts burn with courage,
and may our souls never waver in the face of the unknown."

Babaylan Aluna:
"We are the children of the earth,
the sons and daughters of the sea.
With every step, we carry the weight of our ancestors,
and with every breath, we call upon their strength.
Guide us, protect us, and show us the way."

[In that moment, Babaylan Aluna feels the presence of the gods surrounding her.
Her heart beats faster, the energy in the air charged with anticipation. She closes
her eyes again, feeling a surge of power within her. And then, with a deep breath,
she stands.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"The time has come to fight.
But we do not fight alone.
We fight with the strength of our ancestors,
and the might of the land we protect."

[With the ritual complete, Babaylan Aluna’s voice grows stronger, filling the air with
a new kind of energy. Her arms rise to the sky once more as she begins to sing the
first words of Holding Out for a Hero. The song is a call to arms, a cry for strength in
the face of overwhelming odds.]

🎵 Start of "Holding Out for a Hero" 🎵

Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the streetwise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night, I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure, and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere, just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder
And rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Superman to sweep me off my feet, yeah
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure, and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear there is someone, somewhere, watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood
(Like a fire in my blood, like a fire in my blood)
(Like a fire in my blood, like a fire in my blood, blood)
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure, and it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

- The Fight Scene -

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

“The King’s final day came not by war but by justice.
His own warriors, once loyal, rose against the pride that cost their brothers' lives.
He ruled with conquest, deaf to the cries of his people, until the gods and the land
itself could bear no more.
And so the throne fell not to enemies from afar but to the fury of those he failed.
For a king who leads without heart meets not rebellion but reckoning.”

🎵 ["Do You Hear the People Sing?" instrumental begins to swell] 🎵

[Warriors begin to sing as the king stands at the gallows, the gallows prepared.
Faces fierce, but free. As the rope tightens and the king’s final breath fades, they
raise their voices louder, not in mourning, but in celebration of freedom hard-won, of
tyranny ended.]

“ Do you hear the people sing?

Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes

Will you join in our crusade?

Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free

Do you hear the people sing?

Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes ”

- Ending Scene -

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"And from the ashes of the battle, the gods spoke once more. The sun and the
moon, in their eternal dance, chose a new Datu one not born of blood and war, but
of the divine light that guides our people. It was not a choice made by force, but by
the will of the heavens themselves, their light shining down upon him as a sign that
he was the one chosen to lead."

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"The people, weary yet hopeful, watched as the new leader, the chosen one, stood
before us. It was not the roar of battle that we celebrated, but the spirit of renewal,
of resilience. For the gods had spoken, and the light of the sun and moon shone
upon the new Datu, guiding him to lead with wisdom, courage, and love."

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"It was Bathala ng Araw, the God of the Sun, who bathed him in the warmth of his
light, and Bathala ng Buwan, the God of the Moon, who blessed him with the clarity
of night. Together, they chose him, not for his strength in battle, but for the purity of
his heart and the wisdom in his soul. The sun and the moon, in their eternal dance,
declared him the one worthy of leading our people. He was chosen by the heavens
themselves."
Narration (Babaylan Aluna):
"The people rejoiced, not just for the new Datu, but for the dawn of a new era. An
era where the gods would guide us, where the sun and moon would shine upon us,
where justice and love would lead the way. And in that moment, we were one. We
stood as a people reborn, stronger than before, and ready for the journey ahead."

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"As the celebrations rose, I felt the weight of both grief and hope the grief for the
Datu we had lost, and the hope for the future we would build together. The sun had
set on one era, but the moon rose to shine brightly on another, guiding us toward
the light of a new dawn. A new chapter had begun, one written by the hands of the
gods themselves. A chapter led by the chosen one, who now carried the blessings of
Bathala ng Araw and Bathala ng Buwan in every step he took."

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"Aking tangi... you are gone, but not forgotten. Your spirit will live on in the choices
we make, in the land we protect, and in the hearts of all who followed you. Though I
may walk alone now, the memory of your strength, of your love for this tribe, will
always guide me."

[A pause. The sound of footsteps echoes softly.]

[The Datu appears, walking toward her in the afterlife, his figure bathed in soft light.
He stops before her.]

Datu Magani:
"Aking tangi."

[He smiles gently, reaching out to her. Their hands meet in a moment of
connection, love, and understanding.]

Babaylan Aluna:
"You have come for me."

[She looks at him with tearful eyes, the weight of their bond evident in her gaze.]

Datu Magani:
"It is time, my love. You are not alone. Our people will endure, and so will our spirits."

Narration (Babaylan Aluna):

"Our true strength lies not in the pursuit of power or the thirst for control, but in the
heart of our culture, the soul of our traditions, and the unbreakable bonds of our
beliefs. These are the forces that guide us, far stronger than any sword or throne. As
I walk forward, I carry with me the spirit of our land, the wisdom of our ancestors,
and the sacred rituals we hold dear. For it is in our culture, our prayers, and the faith
we place in the gods that we find the strength to endure and move toward a future
united by the values that make us who we are. Greed may blind us, but love,
tradition, and faith will always guide us through the darkest storm. We are not
defined by kingdoms or conquest, but by the enduring power of our people and the
beliefs that bind us. Together, forever."

[The End.]
