The graph illustrates the changing consumption patterns of fast food among Australian teenagers from 1975 to 2010, highlighting significant increases in pizza and hamburger consumption while fish and chips saw a decline. By 1995, teenagers consumed pizza approximately 80 times a year and hamburgers 100 times a year, while fish and chips decreased to about 40 times a year by 2010. Consumption of Fast Food by Australian Teenagers

The presented graph shows the number of times Australian teenagers ate three types of fast food in
a year: fish and chips, pizza and hamburgers.

At first, in 1975, Australian teenagers ate very little pizza and hamburgers. But in the following years
the consumption increased significantly, the numbers for pizza grew at a quite constant rate and for
hamburgers at first, to 1985, increased sharply, later more slowly. Both numbers leveled off in 1995,
when the frequency of eating pizza ended up at around 80 times a year and of the consumption of
hamburgers - at 100 times a year.

Popularity of fish and chips followed a drastically different path. In 1975 Australian teens ate fish and
chips 100 times a year. From 1975 to 1980 the consumption dropped a bit, then to 1985 it increased
by a similar amount. From 1980 to 2010 the number decreased at a constant rate, reaching a
consumption of around 40 times a year in that final year.

The reason why eating habits of Australian teenagers changed so much during those years may be
attributed to the growing influence of American culture (pizza and hamburgers), which displaced the
traditional British culture (fish and chips).
