MS Word Tutorial: Basic Formatting

Features
🎯 Objective:
This tutorial will help students learn how to use basic formatting features in Microsoft
Word. You will learn how to change the font type and size, apply colour, underline, bold,
italics, superscript, and subscript.

Getting Started:
Open a new Microsoft Word document and save it as: Word_Formatting_Practice.docx

1. Font Types and Sizes


- Type this sentence: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
- Highlight the sentence.
- Change the font to 'Arial'.
- Change the font size to 16.
- Try changing to other fonts like 'Times New Roman', 'Comic Sans MS', and 'Calibri'.
- Try different sizes: 12, 18, 24.

2. Font Colour, Bold, Italics, and Underline


- Type this: My favourite subject is Information Technology.
- Highlight the words 'Information Technology'.
- Change the font colour to blue.
- Make the words bold.
- Italicize the words.
- Underline the words.

👉 Try using different colours and combinations of styles on other words too.

3. Superscript and Subscript


- Type the following exactly: H2O is the formula for water.
- Highlight the '2' and apply subscript.

- Type this: Einstein's famous formula is E=mc2.


- Highlight the '2' and apply superscript.
📝 Practice Activity
Write a short paragraph about your favourite hobby. Use at least:
- Two different font types and sizes
- One word in colour
- One bold word
- One italic word
- One underlined word
- One example using subscript or superscript

💾 Save your file and submit it to your teacher as instructed.
