ASSESSMENT DETAILS FOR CONTINUOUS INTERNAL EVALUATION (CIE) AND
SEMESTER END EXAM (SEE)
The course is assessed out of a total of 100 marks.
The weightage of Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) is 50% of the maximum marks, i.e., 50
marks out of 100 and for Semester End Exam (SEE) is also 50% of the maximum marks, i.e., 50
marks out of 100.
The minimum passing mark for the CIE is 40% of the maximum marks, i.e., 20 marks out of 50.
The minimum passing mark for the SEE is 35% of the maximum marks, i.e., 18 marks out of 50.
A student is deemed to have satisfied the academic requirements and earned the credits allotted to
each course if the student secures not less than 35%, i.e., 18 Marks out of 50 in the SEE, and a
minimum of 40%, i.e., 40 marks out of 100 in the total of the CIE and SEE combined.
CONTINUOUS INTERNAL EVALUATION (CIE)
Two Unit Tests, each of 25 Marks and duration of 1 hour, shall be conducted. The first test will be
conducted after 35-50% of the syllabus is completed and the second test after 80-100% of the
syllabus is completed.
Total marks scored from the two unit tests out of 50 shall be scaled down to 25 marks.
The minimum marks to be secured shall be 40% of the maximum marks i.e., 10 out of 25.
If necessary, one improvement unit test may be conducted after the second unit test. However, the
sum of the best two unit test marks shall be scaled down to 25 marks.
Comprehensive Continuous Assessment (CCA) Methods
Two Comprehensive Continuous Assessments (CCA), each for 25 marks, are to be conducted.
Based on the needs of the course Comprehensive Continuous Assessments (CCA) may be chosen
from the Assignments, Quizzes, Seminars, Course Projects, Field Surveys, Case Studies, Hands-on

The minimum marks to be secured shall be 40% of maximum marks, i.e., 10 out of 25 marks.
SEMESTER END EXAMINATION (SEE)
The Theory SEE is conducted according to the scheduled timetable with a common question
paper for each course.
The question paper shall be set for 100 marks, with English as the medium of the paper. The
duration of the SEE is 3 hours.
The question paper consists of 10 questions with two main questions from each module. Each
main question is set for 20 marks with a maximum of 3 sub-questions with mix of topics within
the module. The students must answer 5 full questions, selecting one full question from each
module.
The marks scored by the student out of 100 are scaled down to 50 marks.
