SCENE 1 – INT. MIGUEL’S HOUSE – NIGHT
VISUAL:
Candlelight flickers over Miguel’s desk. Old books, a school report, and a worn copy of Noli Me
Tangere are scattered.
ACTION:
Miguel flips through the crumpled pages. His finger pauses at the name “Crisostomo Ibarra.”
MIGUEL (V.O.):
“Minsan may tanong na hindi tinuturo sa klase… sino ka bago ka naging ikaw?”
SCENE 2 – INT. MIGUEL’S HOUSE – CONTINUOUS
VISUAL:
Softer lighting in the sala. Rico enters, holding a printout.
RICO (casual):
Miguel, ikaw ang magre-report kay Ibarra. Parang… bagay sayo eh.
ACTION:
Miguel laughs lightly but stops. The name “Ibarra” echoes unnaturally.
SFX:
Whispered echoes in layers: “Ibarra... Ibarra...”
CLOSE-UP:
Miguel’s hand grips the book. Then—his vision blurs. Sound fades. FLASHBACK BEGINS.
SCENE 3 – FLASHBACK MONTAGE (NOLI SCENES)
VISUAL MONTAGE:
1. Welcome dinner for Ibarra – Spanish-style dinner table, elite guests, Padre Damaso
speaking.
○ Ibarra talking to other people
○ PADRE DAMASO (Spanish, loudly):
“¡Los indios no deberían tener educación! ¡Y mucho menos opinar sobre la
iglesia!”
(The indios should not be educated! Much less criticize the Church!)
2. Crispin and Basilio – Being chased by the Guardia Civil, then the dark corner where
Crispin is beaten.
○ GUARDIA CIVIL 1 (yells):
○ “¡Contra la ley! ¡Traidor al gobierno!”. (Against the law! Traitor to the
government!)
○ BASILIO (crying):
“Kuya! Tama na po! Maawa kayo!”
3. Sisa running barefoot –
○ SISA (screaming):
“Crispin! Basilio!”
○ Gunshot in the distance. Sisa covers her mouth, eyes wide with terror.
4. Ibarra and Elias in the forest
○ ELIAS:
“Kung di mo kayang buwagin ang sistema, ikaw ang dudurugin nito.”
5. Ibarra and Maria Clara
○ Montage sweet scene
○ MARIA CLARA (softly):
“Bakit parang laging may dulo ang ating ligaya?”
6. Padre Damaso in church
○ PADRE DAMASO (Spanish, furious):
“¡Ese muchacho, Ibarra, es un traidor! ¡No merece estar entre nosotros!”
(That boy, Ibarra, is a traitor! He does not deserve to be among us!)
7. Maria Clara weeping in the convent
○ MARIA CLARA (V.O.):
“Patawad, Ibarra… ako’y bihag ng paniniwala, hindi ng puso.”
MIGUEL (V.O., faint whisper):
“Ako ba… si Ibarra?”
SCENE 4 – INT. MIGUEL’S HOUSE – LATER THAT NIGHT
VISUAL:
Miguel’s wall now covered in pages: quotes, maps, names, drawings of Elias, Sisa, Maria Clara.
Words written in red: Pag-ibig. Hustisya. Kalayaan.
ACTION:
Rico enters quietly and sees the transformation.
RICO (worried):
Bro… okay ka pa ba? Baka nababaliw ka na…
MIGUEL (calm but intense):
O baka ginigising lang ako ng katotohanan.
SCENE 5 – INT. CHURCH – NEXT DAY
VISUAL:
An empty old church. Echoing silence. Miguel walks slowly down the aisle.
SFX:
A faint humming—Maria Clara’s lullaby. Church bells toll. Along the side aisles, women in old
Filipiniana (kimona, saya) whisper and walk in silence.
ACTION:
Miguel kneels at the altar.
In the shadows, Elias (ghost) appears far in the back, watching silently.
ELIAS (V.O.):
“Hindi lahat ng bayani ay hinangaan. Yung iba, nilibing sa katahimikan.”
SCENE 6 – INT. CHURCH – CONTINUED
VISUAL:
Miguel looks up. On the altar—he briefly sees Ibarra’s reflection standing in his place, proud and
broken all at once.
MIGUEL (soft but determined):
Ako si Ibarra. At bumalik ako…
(beat)
Hindi para gumanti… kundi para gisingin ang bayan.
FINAL SHOT – EXT. KALASANGAN – DUSK
VISUAL:
Miguel stands at the edge of a wide grassy field, the wind gently blowing. The sun is high,
clouds drifting. He looks calm, but something in his eyes has changed — awakened, grounded.
Ibarra also appears.
ACTION:
He closes his eyes briefly, feeling the wind on his face. In the distance, we hear the faint sound
of church bells and children’s laughter — life continues around him.
