Deputation

Definition:
Deputation refers to the temporary assignment of an employee by their employer to work at a
different location, department, organization, or project, usually for a fixed period while
retaining their original employment status.

Key Features:

 The employee continues to be employed by the original company but works under
another department, branch, or organization temporarily.
 Often used for skill development, special projects, or to meet temporary manpower
needs.
 The deputed employee may receive allowances or benefits related to the deputation
location or role.
 The terms of deputation (duration, roles, responsibilities) are usually defined in an
agreement or company policy.

Example:
An employee from Company A is deputed to work at a client site or subsidiary Company B
for 6 months, after which they return to their original position.
