Date of Site Visit: 7.05.2025 and 9.03.2025

Site Location: Behind Electrical Lab.

Project Name: Mechanical Lab Construction

Executive Summary

This report documents the observations and learnings from our site visit to the construction site
of the Mechanical Laboratory behind the electrical lab. The purpose of the visit was to gain
practical insights into construction processes, project management, and safety protocols. The
project, which began on December 25, 2024, is expected to be completed by January 4, 2027.
Key activities observed during the visit included excavation, foundation work, and the use of
heavy machinery. The report also highlights the importance of safety measures and quality
control in construction projects.

Project Overview

Project Name: Mechanical Lab Construction

Location: Behind the Electrical Lab.

Project Type: Laboratory Building

Project Timeline:

Start Date: December 25, 2024

Expected Completion Date: January 4, 2027

Project Scope: The project involves the construction of a New Mechanical Lab with a building
size of 27 meters by 29 meters and a site layout of 38 meters by 40 meters.

Key features include foundation work, structural framing, and utility installations.
Progress Summary:

As of this week, the formwork for grade beams and footings has been completely removed, and
the site has transitioned from the substructure to the early superstructure phase. The concrete
grade beams and column starter portions have been cast. The formwork removal indicates
adequate initial curing has occurred, allowing movement to the next stage. Column
reinforcement cages remain tied and braced, extending vertically in preparation for further
casting up to plinth or first-floor level.

In one week, the site has advanced from footing and grade beam formwork and casting to
completion of those elements and removal of temporary shuttering. The columns are aligned and
ready for vertical extension. This indicates the substructure phase is nearly completed, and the
project is now ready to begin the plinth-level slab or ground floor superstructure work. The
progress reflects efficient site management and adherence to structural sequencing.

Recommendations

● Ensure mandatory use of safety gears.

● Ensure that proper curing is carried out continuously to achieve required strength.
● Strengthen temporary column bracing and ensure all vertical rebars are safely tied and
capped to prevent accidents.
