Introduction to the learning session started off with reciting prayer to thank God and to instil a value of
goodness in students.
Mahathi Karthik and Matthew Cornelius have hosted the assembly, introducing various elements of the
assembly.

To enrich students and to enlighten them with a thoughtful purpose, a thought of the
day is proposed by Devesh Shinde.
"More than ever before in human history, we share a common destiny. We can master it only if we face
it together. And, friends, that is why we have the United Nations." by Kofi Annan, 7th Secretary General
of the United Nations is a quote that reflects Annan’s emphasis on unity, cooperation, and the shared
responsibility of humanity in addressing global challenges.
Furthermore, the previous year participants of MUN delivered speeches to educate students regarding
the various proceedings about the Model United Nations and to encourage them to take part in the
MUN. To commence, Aashutoosh provided a concise overview of the MUN proceedings, outlining the
structure and key stages, including roll call, debates, caucuses, resolution drafting, and voting, ensuring
participants understood the flow and purpose of each segment.
Following that, the students took the stage to share more about the structure of the Model United
Nations. The session began with Tanay introducing the concept of the roll call in a Model United
Nations (MUN), explaining its importance in determining the presence of delegates and setting the tone
for formal proceedings. Following this, Matthew elaborated on the General Speaker's List, a central
component of MUN debates, where delegates take turns to present their country’s stance on the
agenda, ensuring structured discussions. Suhas then explained the nuances of moderated and
unmoderated caucuses. He highlighted how a moderated caucus allows for focused and timed speeches
on specific sub-topics, while an unmoderated caucus provides a platform for informal discussions and
collaborations between delegates.
As the session progressed, the focus shifted to the most critical aspect of the MUN: resolution drafting.
Lovya detailed the process, emphasizing the importance of drafting a comprehensive resolution that
reflects consensus and addresses the agenda effectively. Nithik then walked the participants through
the voting procedures, explaining the rules and different voting methods used to adopt resolutions.
Finally, Jayani concluded by explaining how to raise motions and the key points used in MUN, such as
Points of Inquiry, Points of Order, and Points of Personal Privilege, which help delegates clarify doubts,
maintain procedural accuracy, and ensure a smooth flow of debate. The session provided a thorough
understanding of the MUN framework.

The participants found the assembly to be highly informative and engaging, offering them valuable
insights into the structure and functioning of a Model United Nations. The detailed explanations of
procedures, such as roll call, debates, caucuses, and resolution drafting, helped demystify the
complexities of MUN proceedings. The interactive nature of the session and the clear guidance
provided by the speakers made it both enjoyable and educational. This exposure sparked interest and
enthusiasm among the participants, encouraging them to actively engage in future MUN events. It
inspired confidence and motivated them to explore global issues through debate and diplomacy.
