Q.17 Samiksha wants to understand more about the field of AI. Help her 4
understand the term artificial intelligence by giving the right definition
and explain to her with an example how machines become artificially
intelligent.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of machines or computers to
perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. These tasks include
learning, reasoning, problem-solving, understanding language, and
recognizing patterns.
How Machines Become Artificially Intelligent:
Machines become artificially intelligent through a process called machine
learning. They are trained using large amounts of data and algorithms
(step-by-step instructions). For example, if you want a machine to
recognize cats in pictures, you show it thousands of cat images. The
machine learns patterns, like the shape of ears or whiskers, and uses this
knowledge to identify cats in new pictures. Over time, it gets better at the
task, just like how humans learn from experience.
Identify the figure and explain about the type of Learning based AI
model given below. Also explain its types.
Q.18 4
The given images represent a Reinforcement Learning (RL) model,
where an AI agent interacts with its environment, learns from
experiences, and improves decision-making over time.
Explanation of Reinforcement Learning (RL) Model-
a) The agent (robot) observes its environment (fire and water).
b) It makes a decision, such as moving toward the fire.
c) If the decision is wrong (touching fire), it gets a negative reward
(-50 points).
d) It learns from this mistake and avoids fire in the future.
This is how AI learns through trial and error, improving over time based
on rewards and penalties.
Types of Reinforcement Learning:
1. Positive Reinforcement Learning:
a) The agent receives a reward for correct actions.
b) Example: A self-driving car gets a reward for following
traffic rules.
2. Negative Reinforcement Learning:
a) The agent receives a penalty for incorrect actions.
b) Example: The robot touches fire, gets a penalty (-50
points), and avoids fire in the future.
Neural networks are said to be modelled the way how neurons in the
human brain behave. A similar system is mimicked by the AI machine
to perform certain tasks. Explain how neural networks work in an AI
model and mention any three features of Neural Networks.
How Neural Networks Work in an AI Model:
Neural Networks are a type of AI model that imitates the working of
the human brain to process information and make decisions.
1. Input Layer: The network receives data (e.g., an image of a cat).
2. Hidden Layers: The data passes through multiple layers of
artificial neurons, where patterns are recognized and decisions are
Q.19 made. 4
3. Output Layer: The final result is produced (e.g., identifying the
image as a "cat").
Each neuron processes information and passes it forward to the next
layer, just like brain neurons. The network improves over time by learning
from errors.
Three Features of Neural Networks:
1. Self-Learning Ability: Neural networks improve their performance over
time without needing human instructions.
2. Pattern Recognition: They can identify complex patterns in images,
text, or voice.
3. Decision Making: Neural networks help AI make smart decisions, such
as predicting weather or detecting diseases.

Traffic Jams have become a common part of our lives nowadays. Living
in an urban area means you have to face traffic each and every time you
get out on the road. Mostly, school students opt for buses to go to
school. Many times the bus gets late due to such jams and students are
not able to reach their-
school on time. Thus, an AI model is created to predict explicitly if there
would be a traffic jam on their way to school or not. The confusion matrix
for the same is:
Reality
Confusion Matrix Yes No
Yes 50 45
Prediction
No 17 10
Q.21 a) Identify the total number of wrong predictions made by the model. 4
b) Calculate precision, recall and F1 Score.
a) Total wrong predictions = False Positives + False Negatives
= 45 + 17 = 62
