1. Why does Banksy choose to remain anonymous?

Even though Banksy is carries an infamous status among the art world, he keeps his
identity completely secret. This choice is mainly because of the fact that Banksy is quite
literally a criminal. He vandalizes public spaces, which according to the law in unacceptable.
During his early years, the thing he feared most was being prosecuted for the criminal
damage caused by his street artwork.

2. Where did his graffiti/art begin and how did he become more well known?

Banksy started as a freehand graffiti artist in 1990–1994 as one of Bristol's DryBreadZ


Crew (DBZ), with two other artists known as Kato and Tes. He was inspired by local artists
and his work was part of the larger Bristol underground scene with Nick Walker, Inkie and
3D.

3. What purpose does Banksy’s work serve?

Known for his unapologetic criticism of today's political, military and financial
establishments, Banksy expresses this through his iconic, but ever-pertinent imagery. A

By keeping his face covered and often making his art in masquerade, Banksy remains in the
shadows. As one of the most successful street artists in the world, Banksy also has an
extensive team behind him protecting the secret.

5. Should graffiti considered as art or is it just vandalism?

Art is subjective, but there is no denying that graffiti is art. Art is an expression of the truest
self, and telling someone that their art is “wrong” is a devastating insult. We need to respect
graffiti as art because of its deep connection to the creator. Graffiti isn't just vandalism or
destruction of property.

6. Which of Banksy’s work caught your eye the most and why?

Girl with Balloon is undoubtedly one of Banksy's most recognizable works. The image of a
little girl reaching towards a red heart-shaped balloon was created as part of a London
series of street art works starting in 2002.
