Geography
The geography syllabus is divided into World Geography, Indian Geography, the Geography of

Geography of India and the World
o Students should start by studying the 11th & 12th class NCERT Books of Geography to
develop basic concepts related to the Geography of the world and India.

phenomena, climate, and population distribution around the world and India. For that, they
can read Lucent's general knowledge book.
Geography of MP
o Students should frequently use a map of Madhya Pradesh while studying physical geography
topics. Many topics of the Geography of Madhya Pradesh overlap with the Economics of
Madhya Pradesh like the Sectors of Economics, Infrastructure & Resources of MP. These
topics should be covered together holistically from all aspects.
History
History has the largest syllabus among all subjects. Thus, a smart way to prepare for History is
required to cover the entire syllabus of History in MPPSC preparation.
Indian History
o Students should divide this section into 3 heads- ancient, medieval, and Modern History. It
will help students to understand the chronology of major events.
o More emphasis should be given to famous dynasties & rulers, their achievements, Major
events, and their contribution to art and architecture.
History of Madhya Pradesh
o Students should study the history of Madhya Pradesh simultaneously with the history of India

Polity and Governance
Around 15-20 questions in the Prelims stage and 150 marks of questions come in the Mains
examination from this subject.

legislative bodies, constitutional officers, Participatory governance, Panchayati Raj, etc.
o Short notes on all the constitutional and non-constitutional bodies mentioned in the syllabus
and basic information about them must be prepared.

Economics
The questions of Economics are asked directly from the topics mentioned in the syllabus and any
basic reference book should suffice.

o Special preference should be given to the Madhya Pradesh economy. Simultaneous study of
India and the state economy will help to cover the syllabus effectively and reduce duplication

Art and Culture
Although the syllabus mentions the term “Indian cultural heritage”, the majority of questions are
asked specifically about the art and culture of Madhya Pradesh.

General Knowledge of Madhya Pradesh

Science and Technology

MPPSC Preparation Syllabus
The MPPSC Prelims is a qualifying examination. There are two papers in it. General Studies Paper - 1
and General Aptitude Test Paper - 2. The merit list to qualify for the Prelims exam is calculated by
combining the marks of both papers. The MPPSC Mains exam consists of six papers, and each paper
contains a significant quantity of useful knowledge. An MPPSC aspirant must understand the pattern
and syllabus of these six papers in order to pass the MPPSC exam. The six papers that make up the

MPPSC Exam Pattern 2023
MPPSC exam is conducted in three stages. One must be aware of all these 3 stages to formulate an
MPPSC preparation strategy for prelims and mains exams. The 3 stages are
o The Preliminary Stage- Multiple Choice Questions
o The Main- Written Examination
o Personality Interview.
Preliminary Stage
o Creating the MPPSC preparation strategy for the preliminary examination is the first step
towards the examination. This comprises two papers of 100 Questions each. Every question
carries 2 marks each. There is no Negative Marking for incorrect answers.
o The merit list of the qualifying student for the Mains examination will be made from the
marks of Paper 1 (General Studies) i.e. out of 200 marks.
o Paper 2 of the preliminary examination will be of qualifying in nature. Student needs to get at
least 33% of the total marks of Paper 2 i.e. 67 out of 200 marks to qualify the paper 2.

Mains Stage
The main Stage comprises 6 descriptive papers. The total Marks of the Mains stage is 1400 marks
and all papers are compulsory.

marks for each part.
o All the questions must be written within prescribed word limits.

o Unit 5 will have 2 case studies-based questions. Each case study will be of 20 marks.
