IGCSE English First Language - Weekly Improvement Plan for

Writing Skills

This plan is tailored to support consistent, manageable progress in writing.


Each day includes focused exercises and skill-building tasks.

Week 1: Core Grammar & Sentence Fluency

Monday: Grammar Focus

 Activity: Apostrophes Practice (its vs it's, contractions vs


possession)

 Exercise: Correct 10 sentences with apostrophe errors

 Mini Task: Write 5 correct sentences using "its" and "it's"

Wednesday: Sentence Structure

 Activity: Combine and separate run-on sentences

 Exercise: Rewrite a paragraph with improved punctuation and flow

 Mini Task: Highlight one sentence that uses a semicolon correctly

Friday: Short Writing Task

 Task: Write a short paragraph on "Life Without Technology"

 Focus: Sentence variety + correct punctuation

 Review: Check for commas, capital letters, and full stops

Week 2: Vocabulary Building & Tone Awareness

Monday: Vocabulary Enrichment

 Activity: Learn 5 new words on "money and economy"
