Reading Week is al ways so much fun! My school does several school wide
acti vities that make this week special for our students, but I al ways like to
do a few things of my own within the walls of my classroom to make it
extra special for my students. This freebie incl udes a collection of acti vities
that you can share with your students.
Reading BINGO
Send this Bingo g ame home as an optional
homework pa ge. You could tell students they
will earn a pri ze/treat/privilege for playing,
but that is enti rely up to you. If you want to
gi ve your students a bit more ti me to read
and try to make Bingo, send this home the
Friday before Reading Week so they have a
few extra days.
THEMED D.E.A.R. TIME
Reading Week is a great ti me to add a little
flai r to your D.E.A.R. ti me. Send home this
note and invite your students to partici pate
in daily themes. Students are invited to
bring an item from home each day. It’s
al ways l ots of fun.
bookmarks
Let your students color a bookmark, then
laminate it for durability. Or, i f it’s easier,
use the full color option and
print/laminate a class set of bookmarks
(these could be used as a Bingo pri ze).
GRAPHING ACTIVITY
Let students poll their classmates to create
a graph. They will use the hal f sheet option
included to gather their data. Then, they will
use that information to color in the bar
graph. After that they will answer questions
about their graph. Finally, you can turn this
activity into a cute display piece by gluing
the graph to construction paper and
attaching the coloring template to the top.
There is an additional topper option. Choose
the version you like best.

D.E.A.R. TIME
During Reading Week, we will have daily “Drop Everything and Read’
(D.E.A.R.) ti me. During this ti me, students will read a book of thei r choosing.
To make this ti me of day even more enjoyable, students are invited to
partici pate in these daily reading themes.
MONDAY
READ TO A FURRY FRIEND
Students are welcome to bring a stu ffed ani mal to read to.
TUESDAY
A DAY AT THE PARK
Students are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on while reading.
WEDNESDAY
GLOW IN THE DARK
Students are welcome to bring a flashlight to read with.
THURSDAY
GET COMFORTABLE
Students are welcome to bring a pillow to use while reading.
FRIDAY
SNACK ATTACK
Students are welcome to bring a snack to eat while they read.
