TeaTech: Empowering Farmers with AI

Tea farmers in India face significant revenue losses due to late disease detection, resulting in an estimated 2,865 crore INR lost annually. TeaTech is a platform designed to empower these farmers by providing early disease detection through machine learning algorithms, ultimately improving crop quality and reducing costs. The business model includes B2B and D2C subscription plans, targeting both small growers and large plantation estates to enhance their operational efficiency.

Problem Statement

• Uneducated tea farmers struggle to identify the

diseases early. Late detection, often after
harvest, leads to substantial crop loss and
diminished overall quality.
• The lose in revenue is around 2,865 crore per
year.
• Out of 1.7billion kg of annual production, 142
million kg is gone into dust due to pests , which
accounts for almost 12% of total production.
• Lumpsum of 12,000INR /hector is spent alone
on the pesticides each year .
• Lower yeilds can lead to unstagnancy in the
pays to estate workers .

TeaTech , is a revolutionary platform designed specifically for

Market Analysis
There are mainly two types of tea producers all over India
Competitors
• Small growers(STGs) :- it includes small
businessmen/family estate owners.
o a lot of their money is spent in disease detection from
factories .Moreover , since estates are small , more
plants are susceptible to disease.
o TeaTech could play a vital role for both cost ❖ But none of the platform focuses specifically on tea
cutting(transport cost-60rs/km + quality testing cost ) as disease detection , neither does any of them provide any
well as for disease prevention curative measures nor they are as accurate as TeaTech.
• Plantations estates owners(RTGs) :- it includes large
corporates or state ownership
o These owner have to spend a lot of money and resources
to deploy machines(4-5lkah + maintenance) and
experts(50k/month) for disease identification in their
production units.
o While the same job could be easily done without making
such heavy investment by using TeaTech at a much prior Tea rolling machine and Arnott-Macintosh sorter
stage.
