Hand Washing as a Preventive Measure Against Infection

Hand washing plays a crucial role in preventing infection from spreading within the
healthcare setting. It helps reduce and prevent the transmission of microorganisms
among patients and healthcare staff. According to the National Foundation for
Infectious diseases(NFID), washing of hand is one of the most effective strategies
to protect ourselves from many preventable diseases. This highlights that hand
hygiene is a basic yet powerful method and is very crucial for the prevention of
infections, especially in healthcare premises where the risk of disease transmission
is high. In all, the practice of hand washing remains one of the most accessible and
reliable ways to protect both individual and public health, especially in premises
where the risk of infection is high.
