MAIN PURPOSE: To inform readers the importance and to effectively
write a sports news article.
THESIS STATEMENT: Sports is more than just wins or losses. Aside from
victories, games, and points, sportswriters must
also know about business, labor and cultural
issues, political issues, and health problems.

A. BACKGROUND INFO: Sports news articles are so important
because it fascinates several people, inspires many sports lover, and
develops life skills.
1. ATTENTION CATCHER: Simply introduce the readers to
the main topic – “what makes sport more interesting?”
