E. Answer the following questions:
Q. 1. What is computer network ?
•Ans : When a number of computers are
connected in order to communicate or
share information, they form a network
and this is defined as a computer
network.
Q. 2. Explain in brief the client – server
architecture.
•Ans : A client-server network consists of
multiple computers (clients) connected to a
central server. The server controls shared
resources and services, while clients request
and utilise these resources. If the server is
offline, access to its resources is unavailable
for the clients.
Q. 3. Define the term topology. Briefly explain
any two types of network topologies.
• Ans : Network topology is the graphical representation or layout of the
components comprising a network, including nodes, links, and peripherals. It
defines the structure and arrangement of these elements, influencing the flow
of data within the network, regardless of its physical configuration.
• Any two types of topologies are:
• Bus Topology
• In this type of topology, all the devices are connected to a linear cable called a
bus or trunk. The bus acts as a backbone of this network.
• Star Topology
• In this type of structure, all the devices are connected to a central device that
acts as a hub or switch. Each device is linked to the central hub through a
separate connection, and thus it requires more connections.
Q. 4. What is an antivirus ? What tasks does it
perform?
• Ans : Antivirus software, also known as anti-malware software, is a
program designed to identify, prevent, remove, or deactivate
malicious software, including viruses, from infecting a computer
system.
• The antivirus software performs the following tasks:
• Examines files and programs as they are being opened, accessed,
copied or downloaded
• Scans the incoming emails with attachments and Removes viruses
from the computer
• Scans the files and applications stored in the computer in order to
detect viruses
Q. 5. Difference between Wireless Transmission
Media and Wired Transmission Media
•Ans :
