Rack Inspection Process:-
UP Across Down
• The Examinations should include the following:¬
- Ensure the correct application and use of equipment.
- Ensure that the working load limits are adhered to.
- Ensure that the racking installation has not been altered.
- Examine the extent of damage due to impact on the racking
installation.
- Examine for any signs of out of plumb of the racking that could
eventually lead to rack failure.
- Examine for any sign of corrosion, dislocation and deformation of
rack sections, connections for uprights and beams.
- Examine connectors for deformation or signs of cracking at the
welds.
- Examine the base plate for anchors and secured to frame correctly.

Max Allowable Deflection: - L / 100
• Inspection of Beam Connector Locks.
- Any missing locking devices shall be replaced immediately to
prevent accidental dislodging of beams.

• The Measurement and Classification of Damage to
Uprights and Bracings.
- Measurement of damage shall carried out by using straight edge
1mt long is placed in contact with a flat surface on the concave
side of the damaged member.
- For an upright bent in the direction of frame bracing, the maximum gap between
the upright and the straight edge should not exceed 3mm.
- For an upright bent in the direction of the rack beam spans, the maximum gap
between the upright and the straight edge should not exceed 5mm.
- For bracing members bent in either plane, the gap between the straight edge and
the bracing member should not exceed 10mm.
