K- Hello welcome back to another episode of my podcast “division” today I will be talking about
the international conflict between Israel and Palestine, how it started,and how it is currently, I
also have a special guest with me, introduce yourself
P2- Hi my name is Tara! I will pop in from time to time to ask questions and share some
information.
K- Okay before we get started we would just like to say that we believe all of the citizens should
be equal under Israeli sovereignty. You may have heard about the conflict between Israel and
Palestine around all social media, may it be tiktok, instagram, or youtube. Now other than
scrolling past the video you might have asked yourself, what is this whole problem with
palestine and israel? Diving deep, the Israel and Palestine interference started merely in the late
20th century, specifically 1947 which was the United Nations vote to partition the land in the
British mandate of Palestine into two states- one jewish and one Arab, some will say this was
the rise to zionism.
P2- Well what happened to the Palestinians living there?
K- Great question! Neither Palestinians nor the neighboring country Arabia was fond of the new
land of Israel, which led to the fights between “Jewish armed groups, some of which the British
referred to as terrorist organizations” claims [Link]. 700,000 Palestinians fled due to
¾ of the population of Arabia's territory being captured allowing them to never return again.
P2- Sorry to butt in but here are some key events of the so called interference that i think we
should highlight in todays episode from oldest events to newest events:
1948- Israeli war of independence, which we briefly spoke about, I think it is important because
according to [Link] “The war led to the establishment of the State of Israel as it successfully
defended itself from the invasion of the surrounding Arab countries”
1982- First Lebanon war, a military conflict between Israel and various Lebanese, mainly
palestinian factions. Israel basically wanted to get rid of palestinian forces from Lebanon which
were indirectly affecting them.
2008-2009- Operation cast lead (Gaza war) Israel launched a military operation in response to
rocket attacks from Gaza. This was the first major conflict between Israelis and Palestinians
since the end of the Second Intifada in 2005
2023- October 7 Hamas massacre, Hamas, a terrorism group controlling Gaza launched many
vicious attacks over israelis.” This was the largest terrorist attack in Israeli history and the worst
attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” [Link]

were saying! Now we have gathered some information from both sides of this war whos
interviews we have clipped and here's what it sums up to:
Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, a 70-year-old physician and Palestinian political activist says;
“Americans should be against killing Israelis but also against killing Palestinians,”
He said he wants a ceasefire now and, after that, the establishment of an independent
Palestinian state or “one democratic state” with equal rights for both Israelis and Palestinians.
“we [Palestinians and Israeli Jews] can live together.” says American magazine.“I will never
depart from this belief. I never changed my mind, even when the Israeli army shot me while I
was treating an injured person in my white coat as a doctor. And I still carry the 35 shrapnels in
my back. But that didn’t change my mind or opinion that nonviolence is the best way. I believe in
that, and I practice that.”- interviewed by Gerard O’connell
Ari Shavit: “But the war has always been bigger than Israel and Hamas,” emotionally we were suddenly
confronted with our tragic, existential [Link] are surrounded by tyranny and fanaticism. And for
decades, our relative success—our economic success, our high-tech success, our military
success—enabled us to ignore all that. So we really thought that we lived like you guys.” states ari.
