teacher have to buy to have enough pencils for 16 students?
2. Joe has three best friends, but he also has 10 other friends that he sees every now and
then. He wants to give his best friends three bags of candy and each of the others two
bags of candy. How many bags of candy does he need to prepare?
3. Jill can type 15 words a minute. If she types for 7 minutes how many words will she
type?
4. Two of Mary’s friends received $5.00 for helping to rake leaves. Three others received
$3.50? How much money do the five friends have all together?
5. Paul arranged his pennies in groups. He has 8 groups of 5. How many pennies does he
have?
6. In three weeks and 4 days, Dana will be going to Disney Land. How many days is this?
7. Each door has four panels. There are six doors along each side the hallway. How many
panels are there in all the doors?
8. Marg has five groups of four counters and Mark has three groups of six counters?
Which one has the most counters?
9. Colin has $20. He paid $3.00 each for five toys. How much money does he have left?
10. If one teddy bear costs $6, how much money do you need to buy a teddy bear for
each of 7 friends?

2. If you have ten $5 bills and six $2 bills, how much money do you have?
3. In Mrs. Smith’s Grade 3 classroom there are 6 groups of 4 desks and 2 groups of 5

4. Each flag in the courtyard has 9 lines on it. How many lines are there on the 7 flags?
5. Paul packed 6 layers of apples in a crate. There were 8 apples in each layer and he had
four apples left over. How many apples were there in all?
6. Jonathon used Lego Block to build a wall that was 18 blocks long and 3 blocks wide.
Marcus used Lego Blocks to build a wall that was 13 blocks long and 5 blocks wide. Which
wall was bigger?
7. Sue needs to have 4 yards of fabric to make one outfit. How much fabric will she need
to have enough to make 9 outfits?
8. Miranda bought 3 books at $6 each. Her mother gave her $25. How much money does
she have left?
9. On the farm it takes 5 minutes to milk one cow. The farmer has the equipment to milk
10 cows at the same time. How long will it take him to milk 50 cows?
10. !2 students in Grade 3 have blond hair. There are three times as many as that with
black hair and four students have red hair. How many students are in Grade 3?
1. Megan walks her dog for 20 minutes a day from Monday to Friday and for 30 minutes a
day on Saturday and Sunday. How long does she spend walking the dog each week?
2. Anna rolled her marble 18 inches. Rose rolled her marble four times as much. How far
did Rose’s marble go?
3. In the garden, Mom has three rows of 9 potatoes, 4 rows of 10 beans and 1 row of 6
pumpkin. How many plants does she have in all?
4. David saved $7 a month for 4 months and $5 a month for 3 months. How much money
did he save?
5. I need to have two workbooks for each student. There are 16 students in one class and
I have five classes. How many workbooks do I need?
6. There are two sections in the garden. One section measures 5 feet by 7 feet and the
other section measures 10 feet by 6 feet. What is the total area of the garden?
7. What is the perimeter of a square that measures 9 inches on one side?
8. A snail crawls 5 cm a day. How many cm will it crawl in 11 days?
9. A quarter weighs 7 ounces and a nickel weighs five ounces. What is the total weight of
5 quarters and 7 nickels?
10. Mary had $15 to spend at the mall. She bought a burger for $3, two drinks for $1 each
and 2 fries for $2 each. How much did she spend? How much does she have left?
1. Which of these would cost more – 3 bunches of flowers at $12 each or 10 bunches of

2. There are 3 feet in a yard. How many feet are there in 7 yards?
3. There are 20 apartments on each floor of my building. There are four floors and I live
on the second floor. How many apartments are there above me?
4. Tracy has four hats for sale. Three of them cost $17 each and the fourth hat costs $15.
How much money will Tracy have when she sells the hats?
5. Arnie collects hockey cards. He has 13 pages in his binder with 6 cards on each page.
On the fourteenth page there are three hockey cards. How many hockey cards does he

6. If there are 8 slices in a pizza, how many pizzas will Mr. Black have to but so that all of
his 32 students gets two pieces each?
7. 13 of the girls like sour candy, but three times that many boys say that sour candy are
the favorite. How many boys like sour candy?
8. Each flight of stairs has 13 steps. When you walk the stairs to the 4th floor how many
steps will you have climbed?
9. It takes four boards to make one cupboard door. How many boards are needed for 7
doors?
10. It took Jack 15 minutes to walk home from school. His sister stopped to play at the
park and it took her four times as long to walk home. How long did it take her to walk
home from school?
1. Kate has 7 bags of apples with 12 apples in each bag. How many apples does she have
in all?
2. Alexis bought 3 boxes of donuts and 5 boxes of cookies. There were 12 donuts in each
box and 10 cookies in each box. How many sweets did she buy?
3. Liam practiced 5 new words each night for two weeks. How many words did he
practice in all?
4. Jaiden has 16 trucks and there are four wheels one each truck. How many wheels are
there?
5. Ryder wanted to plan a party for 20 of his friends. He needs to have 4 scoops of ice
cream and a spoon for each person. How many scoops of ice cream and spoons does he
need?
6. It only takes ten minutes to come down from the mountain, but it takes twice that to
climb up. If you spend 10 minutes on the mountain, how long does it take to climb up
and come down?
7. There are six people seated at each table. With 10 tables in the room how many
people can you seat?
8. Aida has five books with 17 pages in each one. How many pages are there in all?
9. Five rows of six blocks, plus six rows of 2 blocks equals how many blocks?
10. There are 10 babies in the hospital nursery. Three of them weigh 6 pounds, two
weigh 8 pounds, two weigh 9 pounds and three other babies weight 5 pounds. What is
