Life Cycles Of Some Animals
Four-stage Life Cycle
Life Cycle Of A Mosquito

clusters on the surface of the
water.

Stage 3: A mosquito pupa
remains in a pupa case in the
water. When development
is complete, the skin of the
pupa breaks open.
A four-stage life cycle of a mosquito
Some species of mosquitoes can be very harmful to humans.
The Anopheles mosquito is black with pale strips on its wings and legs. It spreads malaria. A
person who has malaria will experience high fever and chills with uncontrolled shivering and
sweating, tiredness, headaches, nausea and vomiting.
The Anopheles mosquito spreads malaria.
The female Aedes mosquito has black and white markings on its body and legs. It spreads
dengue fever. A person who has dengue fever will experience high fever that can last up
to a week with a severe headache, rash, nausea and vomiting.

Life Cycles Of Some Animals
The female Aedes mosquito spreads dengue fever.
The mosquito spends its egg, larval and pupal stages in water. To prevent the Aedes and
Anopheles mosquito from breeding, we should not leave stagnant water lying around. We can
all do our part to stop the spread of dengue fever and malaria.
The beetle undergoes a similar life cycle to the mosquito.
Life Cycle Of A Butterfly

Stage 1: After laying its eggs on the leaves
or stem of a plant, the butterfly flies away, Larva

as the caterpillar grows.
Pupa
Stage 3: Three weeks later, the caterpillar becomes a pupa.
It stays inside a hard shell called a chrysalis that hangs from
the branch of a tree or plant. Although nothing seems to be
happening from the outside, many changes are taking place
inside the chrysalis. The pupa is undergoing metamorphosis
to transform itself into a butterfly.

The housefly and moth follow a similar four-stage life cycle too.
