My hand is up. Way up.
I have opened and closed
quite a few gates in my
day.
It all started when I
was quite young on the
small beef farm of my
parents in Minnesota.
When my sister and I
were old enough to bring
the cows up to the home
pasture at night, my
history with gate closures
began.
We started with the
old wire around the top
and bottom of the gate
post and the solid fence
post. It took both of us to
close the gates back then.

the wire ring over. Lots
of sister bonding right
there....or something. I
suspect, though I truly
don’t remember, that I got
to do the wire slipping
while my sister did the

The 2025 paddlefishing season begins Thursday, James (Opy)
May 15th in the yellow and green tag areas.
That first day will be a catch-and-release day for

• Paddlefishing limited to two sections of Yellowstone
River: 1) from upstream edge of Tongue River
confluence to Sullivan Creek confluence (1/2 mile
downstream of Calypso Bridge); and 2) from
Glendive Black Bridge to North Dakota line.
• Catch-and-release expanded to two Yellowstone
sections on designated days, but anglers must have an
unused harvest tag for current season to participate.
• Paddlefish can be snagged from a boat only when
boat is beached on shore or on an exposed island,
but once a paddlefish is snagged, boat can follow fish
to land it.
• Designated harvest days Tuesday, Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday. Catch-and-release days Sunday,
Monday and Thursday.
The application-only white tag season (Missouri GLASGOW
River upstream from Ft. Peck Dam to Fort Benton), SCHOOL MENU
began May 1 and saw no changes for 2025. The archery- TUESDAY
