The Smart acronym have 5 different parts to consider when you are setting goals.
• “Specific” - Make your goal obtainable every day by setting a daily goal that works
towards your greater goal.
• “Measurable” - Be sure to measure your progress and keep track of your progress to see
how your goals are coming along.
• “Attainable” - Set goals that you can realistically achieve while keeping in mind to
challenge yourself, so the goal feels worthwhile.
• “Realistic” - Make the goal realistic and be honest with yourself on what kind of will
power you will need to achieve this goal.
• “Time Frame” - Give yourself a time limit to reach the goal. Deadlines help motivate me
to get to work on specific goals.
My personal goal for the quarter is to lose 15 pounds. It's a specific amount of weight, a
measurable progress that I can monitor, I know I can attain my goal within the time frame, I
know my goal is realistic because I have done it before, and my goal was given a time frame of
one quarter. I chose this goal because I want to feel lighter and healthier and less bloated. My
family, such as playing with my 2-year-old son, is a big reason I'd like to lose some weight. As
well as enjoying the process of working out in general and unlocking endorphins while doing so.
