Culture refers to the customary behaviors, norms, and roles that are transmitted between generations through language. It encompasses how people think, act, and feel within a society. Traditional birth attendants known as "hilot" still play an important role in obstetric care in rural Philippines where medical resources are limited. Studies have found that midwives and hilot lack factual knowledge and have improper practices regarding pregnancy and childbirth. Research on the prenatal health and nutrition practices of mothers in Catanduanes found that hygiene is more commonly practiced than other prenatal health practices, and nutritional practices are generally inadequate. Literature on minority pregnancy and childbirth values in the Philippines and other countries can help health workers provide culturally sensitive care

Thinking and feeling it is transmitted from one generation to another through language it presents people with ways of relating to others to their surroundings culture represent the design or recipes for living the interrelated network of norms and roles. It encompasses modes of thinking acting and feeling found in a society and includes everything an individual has acquired as a member of society. It tells what one what to do what not to do and how to do things (panopio 2000) from our culture one learns to determine what behavior is appropriate and what is inappropriate what is good and what is wrong behavior what are allowed and what are prohibited and even which smells are pleasure and which are not. Salcedo (2001) defined beliefs emotional feeling accompanying the belief and overt conduct implementing the beliefs and feelings religious pattern of behavior.

Zarate (2000) cited some beliefs related to pregnancy. To guarantee that melagros will not move in to your new home along with you to get a pregnant women to accompany you when you transfer. Soriao (2002) from Aquinas University of Legaspi City conducted a study on practices of mothers on health and nutrition during pregnancy in selected barangay of Virac Catanduanes prenatal health practices are generally never or seldom practiced by mothers through their period of pregnancy. Almost all of the mothers practice all the nutritional practices but the level of practice is generally inadequate obstetrical history of mothers is not significantly affected by their nutrition or their health practices.

Synthesis The presented related literatures and studies have given the researcher the match needed insights interviews and observations have further augmented in answering the specific problem of the investigation literature and studies were selected on the basis of their significance in promoting direction of the study. Literature about pregnancy and childbirth of minorities in the Philippines and in other Countries their values influence the manner in which they planned for pregnancy and childbirth health workers needed to be aware of culturally differences and similarities that exists among clients and families culturally sensitive care should be rendered thus increasing positive outcomes.
