Refitting the rear subframe

PREASSEMBLING THE REAR SUBFRAME

Apply the indicated product to vibration dampers (23).


Fit vibration dampers (23) to tail guard compartment.

Insert terminal (A) of cable (24) onto bracket (25), making sure to match groove (B) with slot (C).
Insert spring (26) on terminal (A) of cable (24) and, while holding it slightly compressed, engage pawl (D) in its seat on pin (27); refer to figure
(E).
Partially insert pin (27) inside the spring (7) as shown in the figure.
Apply the indicated product to pin (8).

Insert pin (27) in the hole of tail guard compartment, aiming bracket (25) as shown in the figure.
Fasten bracket (25) by starting the two screws (28). Tighten the screws (28) to a torque of 5 Nm ± 10%.

Start screw (18) in the lower hole and screw (15).


Assemble the RH subframe (21) to tail guard compartment, inserting cable (24) in the relevant hole on subframe, as shown in the figure.

On the RH side, start nut (17) on the threaded shank of screw (18).
Again on the RH side, start screw (15) in the lower hole. Tighten nut (17) to a torque of 22 Nm ± 10% while holding screw (18).
Tighten the screws (15) to a torque of 22 Nm ± 10%.

Fit bracket (20), engaging its threaded pins in the indicated holes of LH subframe (22) and RH subframe (21).
On the opposite side, start nuts (19) on the pins of bracket (20).
Tighten nuts (19) to a torque of 18 Nm ± 10%.

Fit the washers (12) on screws (11), on both sides of the rear subframe.
Fit the two covers (10).
Start screws (11) and tighten them to a torque of 2.5 Nm ± 10%.

Fit clips (28).

Install heat reflective material (29) on plastic heat guard (30) internal surface.
Apply the indicated product to seals (31).

Fit the two vibration dampers (31) into the holes of the plastic heat guard.

Fit the three clips (32) on the plastic heat guard. Fix the three clips using the corresponding screws and tightening them to a torque of 2 Nm ±
10%.

Fit the three clips (33) in the metal heat guard.


Fit the two aramid washers (34) on the heat guard stud bolts.

Install the plastic heat guard on the metal heat guard, inserting the two vibration damping pads (35).
Position the aramid washers (36) on vibration damping pads (35).
Fit washers (37) onto screws (38).
Fix the plastic heat guard to the metal heat guard by starting screws (38).
Tighten the screws (38) to a torque of 5 Nm ± 10%.

Fix heat guard (14) by tightening screws (13) to a torque of 8 Nm ± 10%.

Install the tail guard lower cover (5) and fasten it by starting screws (6) in the positions shown in the figure.
Tighten the screws (6) to a torque of 2.5 Nm ± 10%.

At the front, install the two vibration damping pads (39) of tail guard lower cover (5) onto frame pins.
Start the screws with collar (7) at the positions shown in the figure.
Tighten the screws (7) to a torque of 6 Nm ± 10%.

Fit rubber block (40) in the relevant housing on tail guard lower cover, making it partially come out on the lower side, so that tooth (F) gets
beyond its seat (G).
On the lower side of tail guard lower cover, push rubber block (40) upwards until engaging tooth (F) into seat (G).

Refit the number plate support (Refitting the number plate holder).
Refit the tail light (Refitting the tail light).
Refit the latch (Refitting the seat release mechanism).

ONLY FOR THE PANIGALE V4 SPECIALE VERSION (GPS)

Before refitting the number plate support, refit the GPS.

Remove cap (41) from "long" GPS connection cable (42).


Connect the "long" GPS connection cable (42) to the "short" GPS connection cable (44).

Note
During the operation, in order to avoid any errors, pay attention to the different colour of the cables in the "short" GPS connection cable (44)
compared to the number plate light/rear turn indicators connection cable (43), as shown in the figure.

Slide the "long" GPS connection cable (42) to insert it in the indicated opening on tail guard lower cover and taking it out from the top side.
On the bottom side, arrange any exceeding length and connectors of the "long" GPS connection cable (42) and of the "short" GPS connection
cable (44) inside the small chamber shown in the figure.

Install the rubber block (45) inserting its pin in the corresponding hole on GPS support (46), from the indicated side.
Pull pin on the opposite side, until poppet completely comes out.

Fit the two vibration dampers (47) into the holes of the GPS (48).

Slide the "long" GPS connection cable (42) inside the GPS support (46).
Fit the GPS support (46) as shown in the figure and fasten it by starting the two number plate support screws.

Warning
During this operation, make sure that the "long" GPS connection cable is not squashed under the support.

Tighten number plate holder screws to a torque of 18 Nm ± 10%.


Connect the connector of the "long" GPS connection cable (42) to the GPS. Fit the two washers (49) onto two screws (50).
Install the GPS, aiming it as shown in the figure and engaging its vibration damping pads on the stud bolts.
Secure the GPS in place by starting screws (50) on stud bolts. Tighten the screws (50) to a torque of 1.5 Nm ± 10%.

Position the rear subframe in the frame and start screws (2) and (3).
Tighten the screws (3) to a torque of 35 Nm ± 5%.
Tighten the screws (2) to a torque of 31 Nm ± 5%.

Warning
Whenever the rear subframe is removed/refitted, the fastening screws must be replaced.
