c. Make Your Thinking Visible

Don’t forget the AREL (Assertion, Reasoning, Evidence, and Link-back) method to help you
process information or a problem and provide possible solutions. There are 4 steps as
follows:
1. assertion: the argument or statement that you want to make;
2. reasoning: the reasons why you make that statement or argument;
3. evidence: the evidence that supports our argument or statement; and
4. Link-back: the summary or conclusion that highlights the key points you've
presented, ensuring that your audience can easily recall the material you've covered.

Look carefully at the following thinking process sample.

Problem: Should we drink coffee regularly?

Assertion: Regularly drinking coffee can be good for our health.

Reasoning:
● Antioxidants contained in coffee help lower inflammation and improve general health.
● Regular coffee drinking is associated with enhanced cognitive function and mental
alertness.
● Coffee may lower the chance of developing some illnesses, including type 2
diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease.
Evidence:
● Research showed that coffee helps fight free radicals (LIczbiński & Bukowska, 2022).
● Research indicated that coffee could enhance cognitive performance (Maspul, 2024).

Link-back:
Coffee certainly has its benefits as long as it is consumed in moderation.

d. Reflection
In your opinion, is it important to pay attention to the amount of sugar we consume? Why?
How can we make healthier choices without missing out on the fun life has for us?

Your Mental Health

Teenagers must prioritize their mental health because it is as important as their

physical health. Good mental health helps them manage stress, make wise decisions,
and enjoy life. First, mental health affects how teenagers handle stress from school,
friendships, and family. If they do not take care of their mental health, they may feel
overwhelmed and unable to focus. For example, studies show that teenagers with
good mental health can solve problems better and feel more confident. Second, mental
health influences decision-making. When teenagers feel calm and balanced, they can
think clearly and make better choices. On the other hand, poor mental health might
lead to risky behaviors, such as skipping school or arguing with friends. Finally, taking
care of mental health helps teenagers feel happier. When they spend time doing
activities they love, such as playing sports or talking with friends, they feel more relaxed
and enjoy life more. In conclusion, mental health is very important for teenagers to
succeed in school and enjoy their lives. They should talk to someone they trust, take
breaks when stressed, and do activities that make them happy. Taking small steps to
care for their mental health can make a big difference!

Exposure to different types of sugars significantly impacts metabolism and overall health. Natural sugars found in fruits and vegetables are less harmful, as they are accompanied by nutrients and fiber, which aid digestion and metabolism. In contrast, added and refined sugars provide energy but lack nutritional value, leading to quick energy spikes, sugar crashes, and potential weight gain. This imbalance can disrupt metabolic processes, increase the risk of insulin resistance, and negatively affect cardiovascular health .

Educators can enhance health awareness among students by implementing interactive learning modules that encourage active participation and critical thinking. Using visual aids like pictures and videos tied to real-life scenarios can make the information relatable. Interactive discussions can further anchor understanding, as students express and debate health concepts. Incorporating practical activities, such as community projects or lifestyle evaluations, allows learners to apply theories in a tangible setting. These strategies not only enhance comprehension but also encourage students to adopt healthier choices autonomously .

A balanced diet plays a crucial role in controlling sugar cravings and ensuring overall well-being by providing all necessary nutrients in correct proportions, which helps maintain energy stability and reduce the tendency for craving sugary foods. Foods high in fiber, such as vegetables and whole grains, aid in digestion and promote a feeling of fullness, reducing the likelihood of overeating or succumbing to sugar cravings. A balanced diet also supports hormone regulation, which further helps control cravings .

Composing an effective analytical exposition text on health-related topics involves several key techniques. Starting with a clear and concise thesis statement to outline the writer's position is essential. This should be supported by structured arguments, each providing reasons and evidence to justify the position, such as data or research findings related to health benefits or risks. The text should progress logically, using connectors for coherence, and conclude by reinforcing the main arguments or providing actionable insights. Language should be persuasive and authoritative, employing present tense to make the exposition relevant and engaging .

Mindful eating improves the management of sugar intake by encouraging individuals to fully experience food consumption, focusing on the taste and texture of food and how it affects their body. This heightened awareness helps in recognizing hunger cues, distinguishing between actual hunger and emotional eating, and reducing impulsive consumption of sugary foods. By cultivating a mindful eating practice, individuals can make more deliberate and healthier dietary choices, leading to improved eating habits and better overall health .

The AREL method enhances understanding and problem-solving by providing a structured approach to analysis. It begins with an assertion, presenting a clear argument or statement. This is followed by reasoning, which explains the rationale behind the assertion. Evidence is then provided to support the claim, ensuring the argument is grounded in facts or data. Finally, the link-back summarizes the discussion, reinforcing the main points. This method encourages deeper engagement with material, improves logical reasoning skills, and aids in systematically presenting solutions .

Good mental health significantly affects teenagers' ability to manage stress, make thoughtful decisions, and successfully navigate academic and social challenges. Teenagers with stable mental health are better at problem-solving, feel more confident, and make wiser choices. On the contrary, poor mental health can lead to risky behaviors and strained relationships. To improve mental health, teenagers are encouraged to engage in activities they enjoy, communicate their feelings with trusted individuals, and take breaks to manage stress effectively .

While boba and similar sugary drinks provide immediate energy and pleasurable taste, their high sugar content poses significant health risks, including weight gain, increased blood sugar levels, and a higher likelihood of developing metabolic disorders. These drinks lack nutritional benefits, often leading to sugar crashes that cause fatigue and further cravings. Reducing consumption and exploring healthier alternatives or frequency moderation can help mitigate these negative effects and contribute to better long-term health outcomes .

Regular exercise contributes to good health by improving cardiovascular health, strengthening heart muscles, reducing blood pressure, and boosting mental health through the release of endorphins. Integrating regular exercise into daily routines can include activities like walking, which is reported to increase energy levels and reduce stress. Setting specific goals, incorporating physical activity into social activities, and leveraging scheduled intervals for short bursts of activity are practical ways to ensure exercise becomes a regular part of daily life .

Sugar consumption directly impacts health and well-being by affecting energy levels, weight, and risk factors for chronic diseases like diabetes. To manage intake effectively, individuals should understand the difference between naturally occurring sugars and added sugars. Strategies include adopting mindful eating practices, which involve paying attention to the taste and effects of food on the body, and opting for a balanced diet that prioritizes whole foods rich in fiber, which can help control sugar cravings and promote a stable metabolism .
