Course Description
• Students are introduced to principles and
techniques of drawing using variety medium, with
emphasis on its visual language and working from
direct observation.
• Students will gain working knowledge in how to
interpret visual elements.

– Exposure to different ideas about drawing by looking
at historical and contemporary artists’ work;
– Opportunities to participate in discussion.

– Gain valuable problem-solving skills through the work with

– Develop confidence in improvisation and experimentation.
• Student’s final work is an Art & Design Portfolio

• Introduction to the very short brief of history, process,
contemporary issues in drawing.
• Gain knowledge of drawing tools, materials, techniques.
• Understand the elements of line, shape, value, space,
texture, and the principles of balance, rhythm, emphasis,
scale/proportion, depth, contrast, movement, composition.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
• Be prepared for class
– Have a dedicated space to create work, supplies that
student need
– Have a way to get in contact with lecturer.
• Attend all classes and work/be present during the
class time.

POLICIES
• All works that are handed in for grading must be signed with
student’s name on the back.
• All final drawings must be executed on the quality paper
that is assigned.
• Work should be kept in a portfolio.
• Respect and protect student’s creations.
• Disruptive behavior will result in student’s being asked to
leave class.

– An excellent grade, 90-100 points
– An average grade, 70 - 89 points
– A below average grade, 60-69 points
– A failing grade, below 60 points: Unable to grasp concepts and
principles. Basic requirements of course are unmet.
– Incomplete: Assigned at the discretion of the instructor when, due to
extraordinary circumstances...

• Portfolio includes a students’ artwork.
• Portfolio assessment aims at examining students’ drawing
development overtime.
