To solve the given equations using matrix inversion, represent the system as AX = B, where A = \( \begin{bmatrix} 2 & 6 \\ 4 & 8 \end{bmatrix} \), X = \( \begin{bmatrix} x \\ y \end{bmatrix} \), and B = \( \begin{bmatrix} 2 \\ 3 \end{bmatrix} \). Compute the inverse of A, A^{-1}, and multiply it by B to find X. For a matrix to have an inverse, its determinant must be non-zero. However, det(A) = 2*8 - 4*6 = 0, indicating A is singular and cannot be inverted. Thus, the system does not have a unique solution, suggesting the lines are parallel or coincident .

To find the area of a triangle given two sides and the included angle, apply the formula: Area = \( \frac{1}{2}ab\sin(C) \), where a and b are the lengths of the sides, and C is the included angle. For a triangle with sides 6 cm and 12 cm and an included angle of 30°, the area is \( \frac{1}{2} \cdot 6 \cdot 12 \cdot \sin(30°) = 18 \) cm², since \( \sin(30°) = 0.5 \).

Profit percentage is calculated by \( \text{Profit \,\%} = \left(\frac{\text{Profit}}{\text{Cost Price}}\right) \times 100 \%. \) For a radio bought at sh 400,000 and sold at sh 500,000, the profit is sh 100,000. Thus, \( \text{Profit \,\%} = \left(\frac{100,000}{400,000}\right) \times 100 = 25 \% \). Calculating profit percentages informs pricing strategies, indicating competitive pricing or potential price reductions, ultimately influencing decision-making in terms of investment returns and benchmarking against industry standards .

The mean is calculated using \( \text{Mean} = \frac{\Sigma (f \cdot x)}{N} \) with an assumed mean adjustment. The median is identified on a cumulative frequency curve, often interpolated for precision, yielding central tendency. Mode is found as the most frequent class. In education, these measures reveal central trends in student performance, identify outliers, and suggest areas for curriculum adjustment. They form a basis for comparative analysis across cohorts, crucial for targeted improvements and statistical reporting .

To determine optimal plantings, construct objective functions representing profits from sorghum and maize per hectare. Consider labor days and costs as constraints forming an inequality system. Use linear programming techniques to model and solve these: maximize Z = 800,000s + 600,000m subject to constraints such as 4s + 2m ≤ 20 (labor) and cost constraints from the problem. Evaluate vertex points in feasible regions for maximum Z, where s and m represent hectares of sorghum and maize, respectively. Advanced methods might include graphical solutions or applications of the Simplex Method .

Using a Venn diagram to find the number of men who are neither teachers nor parents can effectively represent overlaps in categorizations. However, the method becomes challenging with more complex relationships or additional categories. Calculations get cumbersome for large sets or when proportions are not whole numbers. In this specific case, out of 48 men, 16 are both teachers and parents, representing a straightforward Venn application, but complexity increases with more nuanced or unclear categorization criteria .

Conducting a transaction analysis requires recording transactions accurately to construct a cash flow statement and trial balance, reflecting a business's financial status. For Mr. Chapakazi, transactions include cash purchases, sales, rent, and other expenses. A trial balance ensures debits equal credits, confirming ledgers' accuracy. This analysis identifies liquidity position, expense management efficiency, and net cash flow, critical for strategic planning, financial health assessment, and stakeholder communication .

Probability concepts bridge theoretical understanding with real-world applications. When a die (outcomes: 1-6) and a coin (H, T) are tossed, the probability of an even number (3 chances: 2, 4, 6) and a tail (1 out of 2 outcomes) occurs together in \( \frac{3}{6} \times \frac{1}{2} = \frac{1}{4} \). Understanding these calculations enhances decision-making in uncertain contexts, teaching risk assessment and statistical forecasting, applicable in various fields like finance, insurance, and game theory .

The direction cosines, \( l, m, n \), of a vector are given by \( \frac{x}{||C||}, \frac{y}{||C||}, \frac{z}{||C||} \), where C has components \( x = 9, \ y = 12, z = 0. \) The magnitude \( ||C|| = \sqrt{9^2 + 12^2 + 0^2} = 15. \) Thus, \( l = \frac{9}{15} = 0.6, \ m = \frac{12}{15} = 0.8, n = 0. \) Therefore, \( l^2 + m^2 + n^2 = 0.6^2 + 0.8^2 + 0 = 1, \) confirming the direction cosines sum to one .

The graphical method involves plotting constraints on a graph, identifying feasible regions where all constraints are satisfied. Vertex points of this region are potential solutions. In farm planting, constraints include labor costs and fertilizer spending, plotted against profits from crops. The graphical approach provides visual analysis of optimal solutions, simplifying complex quantitative decision-making into intuitive spatial reasoning, making it invaluable for operations research and logistics planning .
