1. Demographic Details (Your name, gender, education, occupation, workplace, years of

experience, and geographic location.)

*Name: Maryyum Fayyaz * gender: Female

*Education: Done BSc along with Montessori diploma. *occupation: primary teacher

Workplace: DHACSS Seaview Campus. *Experience: 4 years

2. What do you know about inclusivity/inclusion/inclusive practices?

Inclusivity means building an environment where all learners perceive themselves to be

valued and supported. It involves using instructional strategies that cater to all students'
learning needs, including those with special needs. Inclusive practice promotes equal
opportunity and active participation in the classroom. We as educators are obliged to
teach all the children and not exclude them.

3. Do you have students in your class who need special attention or help?

Yes, I have two students who require unique accommodation. Umer of class three needs
academic support since he cannot study. Fiza from class two has a behavioral issue and
continues to get out of her seat or to go out. I do my best to assist them both whenever they
require it.

4. Have you ever participated in in-service teacher training programs?

Yes, I received work-based teacher training programs. I spent two weeks in July studying
short courses arranged by DHACSS. During these sessions, various teachers and
professionals provided brief descriptions of various school subjects, about different
teacher techniques and the ways to manage classrooms properly.

5. Describe your experience of in-service teacher training programs related to inclusive

education.

Probing question: details related to format, duration, and content.

I attended a two-week instructor training by DHACSS focused on equitable education. It

included lectures, discussions, and group projects to enhance knowledge of student needs,
classroom management, and strategies for supporting children with learning or behavioral
difficulties.

6. What key strategies or approaches did you learn in the training program that you

implemented in your classroom?

Probing question: details about the impact on daily teaching practice.

In the course, I learned new ways to help my students. I focused more on supporting
those who struggle with simple activities and improved my classroom rules. These
changes made my teaching easier and my students more engaged.

7. How do these training programs help you to understand the needs of students with

special needs?

Probing question: details about changes in the beliefs of teachers regarding inclusive

education.

From these training sessions, I learned that every kid learns in a unique way and therefore
might need different kinds of help. Their example showed me that all students, even those
with special needs, can be taught, so they shaped my mindset. I now see it is necessary to
change my teaching to fit every student's needs. As a result of this, I am willing to use fresh
techniques in the class and am more understanding and patient than before toward my
students.

8. What are the barriers or challenges you faced in implementing inclusive practices in your

classroom?

Probing question: details on how these training programs address the barriers in the

implementation of inclusive practices.

One of the challenges I faced was teaching different grades in the same classroom. It was
sometimes hard to give enough attention to the students who needed extra help. The training
courses I took taught me some easy methods, like using group activities, visual aids, and
clear instructions. These tools helped me to manage the classroom better and support all the
kids having different level of understanding.

9. What factors contribute effectively to the successful implementation of inclusive practices

in the classroom?

Probing question: details on how training can be improved to promote these factors.

Inclusive teaching works well when teachers are trained properly, given good support, and have
the right tools to use. Training can be better if it includes easy ideas, clear examples from the
classroom, and chances to practice. It also helps a lot if teachers get help even after the training
ends. This way, teachers can support all their students more effectively when they feel prepared.

10. How do you assess or measure the effectiveness of your inclusive teaching practices?

Probing question: details about the ongoing assessment methods/feedback mechanism to

evaluate the effectiveness of their practices.

I will observe how well students are picking up the material and their attendance in class to
evaluate my performance. I will give them straightforward tasks or ask questions to check if
they understand the subject. Sometimes I will discuss this with other teachers as well. This
process helps me to improve my effectiveness in teaching all students.

11. What suggestions/recommendations would you propose for improving in-service teacher

training programs to enhance the effectiveness in promoting inclusive practices?

Probing question: Encourage suggestions based on the needs of the students and

experiences of the teachers.

I believe that if the training programs had real-life situations and activities that we can do in class
immediately, the programs would be more effective. It would be great if the sessions were more
focused on, how to support students with different needs. Having ongoing support after the
training, such as follow-up sessions or even the availability to talk with other trainers would be
more effective. Trainings must cater the issues that are common to teachers, so we are more
confident when assisting all students.
