Basis and Integral Calculations in R3

The document presents a series of mathematical problems involving vector spaces and calculus. It asks whether a given set of vectors forms a basis for R3, how to construct an orthonormal basis using the Gram-Schmidt process, and how to compute line integrals for specified paths. Additionally, it seeks the parametric representation of a frustrum of a cone and the calculation of its lateral area and unit normal at a specific point.

𝑣1 = (1,1,1) , ⃗⃗⃗⃗ 𝑣3 = (1,0,1)

2) For the given basis for R3 vector space construct an orthonormal basis from this set using
Gram- Schmidt orthogonalization process.

a) C1 : the straight line segment from A(0,0,0) to B(1,1,1)
b) C2 : the parabolic arc y=x, z=x2 from A(0,0,0) to B(1,1,1)

4) Find the parametric representation of the frustrum of a right circular cone: 𝑧 = √𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 ,

1 ≤ 𝑧 ≤ 9 in terms of the polar coordinates introduced in the given figure. Determine the
