In many parts of the world, children and teenagers are committing more crimes.

What
are the causes, and the solutions to this problem?
These days, there has been a dramatic rise in the rate of juvenile delinquency. This can be
attributed to several factors, and I will try and propose some viable solutions to
counteract this trend.
To begin with, there are two main rationales behind the increase in youth crime rate. One
of the foremost justifications is the availability of harmful websites which contain
pornography as well as violent illustrations. For example, if youngsters stumble upon
those uncensored contents, their mental development can be disrupted; and as a result,
they tend to imitate those actions because children cannot distinguish what is right and
wrong. Another main culprit is the desperate lack of parental care. Parents, in fact, play a
pivotal role in educating their offspring as they are those who closely communicate, and
effortlessly empathize with their children. Provided that youngsters do not receive
enough attention , they will be prone to some behavioral problems leading to criminal
activities.
In order to address this problem, I am of the opinion that the authorities should take
drastic actions to help fathers and mothers. Firstly, governments should enact stricter
legislations regarding to the censorship of online information, and also impose more
serious penalties on those who deliberately disseminate unsuitable information to
children via the internet. This will also act as a deterrent to individuals having these
intentions. Moreover, the next step in fighting against juvenile delinquency is that people
should know how to educate their offspring. That way, children have better knowledge of
moral and societal boundaries, and hardly ever cause unexpected problems.
In conclusion, unsuitable websites as well as parental skill shortage are seen as to be
blame for the increase in juvenile crime, and it seems to me that the officials should join
hands with parents so as to tackle this problematic issue.
Task 2: More and more people want to buy famous brands of clothes, cars,
and other items. Why is it? Do you think it is a positive or negative
development?

These days, there has been an increase in calls [demand] for products from large
brands. This can be attributed to people’s wrong beliefs, and I would contend that
this trend is detrimental.

To begin with, people’s tendency to purchase luxurious items stems from their
deceptive notions on personal possessions which reflect wealth, social status, and
their appearance. Teenagers from rich families nowadays, for instance, are more
likely to pour money into exorbitantly priced things namely Rolex watches and
Gucci bags. This is in order to show off their wealth, and unique appearance;
thereby boosting self-image and standing out.

From my perspective, this trend has a detrimental [negative] effect on not only the
relationship between the rich and poor, but also the disappearance of smaller
brands. One of the potential drawbacks is that it would widen the gap in the social
hierarchy. To be more specific, the impoverished are those who fail to earn a
lucrative income to lead a stable life, not to mention buying those expensive
products like the wealthy. This would result in tension and conflicts within a
society.

In addition, the rise of well-known brand names can be a main culprit leading to
the monopoly as large companies will attempt to dominate, and eventually wipe
out smaller rivals to maintain their positions. For example, customers are inclined
towards Nike sneakers rather than shoes from local brands in Vietnam; as a
consequence, some newly domestic brand shops have closed down. For these
reasons, it is comprehensible why I assert that this habit is negative.

In conclusion, I would opine that the misguided assumption is the major

contributor to this issue which brings about several disadvantages.
