Speed Se Courier Today Courier A concept to revolutionise the postal industry in India.
Why there is a need for such revolution? Speed (on the same day) Couriers have become costly (to reduce effective cost) For every courier delivery, all details are un-necessary. Increasing the Courier Traffic (volume of courier users). Limited Courier Collection Centres are there which makes the sender to travel a long way to send courier

In pizza system, it is 1 node and several receivers. It gets delivered in 30 Minutes. It is easier to access a particular person. Pizza system generally has a margin of 100 rupee profit per delivery and hence they can afford to appoint more people for delivery. However, in Courier, there are a lot more challenges. The margin is estimated to be around 3 rupees per package delivered. Here it is profit from volume. Yes we can have courier delivered in the same way, but the objective of this proposal is to save money from delivery unlike in Pizza business. Working: In the existing courier system, all couriers are collected and sent to central office, where it is sorted out, all to and from addresses are verified and because of the overhead, the delivery is made possible only on the next day. There is a frequent change in delivery personnel. Because of current addressing system, there is often delay in locating the destination address. Disturbance to the receiving user due to enquiry of every package delivered to locate the address. Todays systems dont make proper use of technology. Because of the bulk transfer, several factors that can make the transfer more efficient are often overlooked, such as: Time of the day. Weekday/weekend. Time of the year. Need to take alternate path during a jam. Some of the flaws in the existing system: Collection centres are often located at large separations from one another and not accessible in many situations. Government has failed to create a proper data-base. Collection centres are not strategically placed. So whats new in this system? Delivery is made on the same day. Strategic planning of collection centres and franchise. Use of technology SMS delivery to the end users SMS delivery to the end nodes Creation of a unique address (ID) Database access Use of Google maps
Overview: Assume a courier delivery starts from point A (nodal office) and reaches back after traversing through all the nodes in the ring. While going in clock wise direction, all package that needs to be sent in clock wise direction are loaded onto this truck; while at the same time, a delivery truck starts at node E and collects all the packages that need to be sent in anti-clockwise direction.
This system of courier collection ensures that all the couriers are collected in an orderly fashion and that all the nodes are visited. To ensure a faster delivery, we can use several trucks to move from one point to the next. Note here that all data is updated in database, map and informed to the nodes and the delivery person at the same time. So a person is assigned the delivery even before the good has reached his node.
It is very important to locate franchise collection points for all given nodes. The points have to be optimum enough to reach the respective node before the delivery truck reaches the respective nodes. The franchise centres could be a tailoring shop, a provision stores, a hotel etc, located at a beneficial location for collection.
The first time a person has to deliver a mail, all his address details along with contact details such as phone number and email ID are fed into the computer thus adding to the database and the address gets a unique tag. At the same time the details of the person at the other end also are fed and a unique tag is created to for that person also. On the delivery box only the tag is printed and sent via a truck. This tag will uniquely identify the nodal office and make sure that the courier is received without any mistakes. Every subsequent time the person needs to mail a courier, only the tag needs to be entered. Thus saving a tremendous effort on the courier collection, reception as well as delivery. This method also ensures that the details of address are not available while the good is being delivered. Operations research plays a vital role in this system. All the delivery of goods need to be planned from the past details of traffic in an area. Significance of the timing: The collection timing is taken as 9-11:30 and the transportation time is taken as between 12-3. This timing is chosen because most of the offices function at this time. And the objective is to deliver on the same day. So if your goods need to be delivered by 6 in the evening, the time when most offices close, then it needs to be collected at least before the transport truck leave the office. Within 30 minutes, all the goods need to reach the nodal office. For the benefit of the customers, the Time of collection at the nodal offices can be extended up to 12:00 noon.
