SECTION 07410
METAL CLADDING
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
This section covers the following types of wall covering:
- Aluminum panel sheets for covering columns, walls, balconies, etc.
Extent of the required work is indicated on Drawings and finishing tables.
Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
Works under this Section shall comply with relevant government codes and circulars
including, but not limited to, Civil Defense requirements, Municipality construction
regulations, and applicable Fire and Life Safety Code requirements.
1.2 SUBMITTALS
1.2.1 Product Data: For each type of product specified. Include manufacturer’s technical data
on physical characteristics, durability, fade and flame-resistance characteristics.
1.2.2 Shop Drawings: Showing location and extent of each column, wall and counter covering
type. Indicate seams and termination points.
1.2.3 Samples for Selection: Submit in the form of manufacturer’s colour charts consisting of
actual units or sections of units showing the full range of colours, textures, and patterns
available a full-width sample, not less than 90 mm long, from dye lot used for the Work.
1.2.4 Schedule: Schedule of panel sheet coverings using same room designations indicated
on Drawings.
1.2.5 Product Certificates: Product certificates signed by manufacturers of panel sheets wall
coverings certifying that their products comply with specified requirements.
1.2.6 Maintenance Data: Maintenance data for panel sheets wall covering to include in the
operation and maintenance manual specified.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.3.1 Manufacturer: Provide the type of panel sheet covering as produced by a single
manufacturer including recommended clips, fasteners, clamps and sealants.
1.3.2 Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer who has completed projects
similar in material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project and with a record of
success in-service performance.
1.3.3 Fire-test-response Characteristics (To ASTM E84):
Provide non-combustible panel sheets with the following surface-burning characteristics
as determined by testing and inspecting agency acceptable to Engineer.
Flame Spread: 25 or less
Smoke Developed: 450 or less
1.4 MOCK-UPS
Prior to installing panel sheets wall, construct mock-ups for each form of construction unit
and finish required to verify selections made under Sample submittals and to
demonstrate aesthetic effects as well as qualities of materials and execution of: Building

walls and columns mock-ups to comply with the following requirements, using materials
indicated for final unit of Work.
Locate mock-up on-site in the location and of the size indicate and/or as directed by
Engineer. Notify Engineer in advance of the dates and times when mock-ups will be
constructed. Demonstrate the proposed range of aesthetic effects and workmanship.
Obtain Engineer’s approval of mock-ups before start of final unit of Work. Replace mock-
ups and test panels that are not acceptable to Engineer until satisfactory installation is
achieved.
Retain and maintain mock-ups during construction to an undisturbed condition as a
standard for judging the completed Work.
Approved mock-ups in an undistributed condition at the time of Substational Completion
may become part of the completed Work.
1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS
1.5.1 Space Enclosure and Environmental Limitations: Do not install panel sheets wall
covering until space is enclosed and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are
and shall be continuously maintained at values near those indicated for final occupancy.
1.5.2 Lighting: Do not install panel sheets wall covering until lighting is provided on the
surfaces to receive wall covering.
1.5.3 Ventilation: Provide continuous ventilation during installation and for not less than the
time recommended by the wall-covering manufacturer for full drying or curing.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
Comply with instructions and recommendations of manufacturer and as herein specified.
Deliver materials to project site in original packages or containers clearly labeled to
identify manufacturer, brand name, quality or grade. Store materials in original
undamaged packages or containers.
0.7 WARRANTY
Provide a written warranty, signed by the Manufacturer and the Installer, agreeing to replace
and repair defective materials and workmanship for a period of 10 years starting from date of
substantial completion.

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
Examine substrates and backing material for compliance with requirements for moisture
content and other conditions affecting performance of work of this Section. Do not
proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. All materials
shall be examined before hanging to check that they are undamaged and of the same shade
number.
3.2 PREPARATION
Comply with manufacturer’s written instructions for surface preparation for installation of
the metal backing system. Clean subtracts of substances that impair backing material
including mould, mildrew oil, grease incompatible primers, and dirt.
Prepare metal studs to achieve a level, plumb, smooth, dry, clean surface free of flaking,
unsound coatings, and defects.
Install sheet wall liners, with no gaps or overlaps, where required by wall covering
manufacturer. Form smooth wrinkle-fire surface for finished installation. Do not begin
wall coverings installation until wall liner has dried.
Acclimatize panel sheets for wall covering materials by removing them from packaging in
the installation areas not less than 24 hours before installation.
3.3 INSTALLATION
General: Comply with panel sheets wall coverings manufacturer’s written installation
instructions applicable to products and applications indicated, except where more
stringent requirements apply.
Remove switches, plate, surfaces mounted fixture and hardware in area where wall
covering panel sheets is to be fixed. Cut wall covering panels with a table saw or jig saw
only. Bending, curving or routing shall be accomplished with metalworking machine.
Install panel sheets wall covering with no gaps or overlaps.
Install seams vertical and plumb at least 150 mm from outside corners. No horizontal
seams.
Trim edges for colour uniformity, and tight closure at seams and edges. Butt seams.
3.4 CLEANING
Remove excess adhesive and dampness at finished seams, perimeter edges, and
adjacent surfaces. Replace removed plates and hardware and fixtures verify cut edges of
wall covering panels are completely concealed.
Use cleaning methods recommended by manufacturer.
