Preface
This project report is a part of the academic curriculum of BBA Final Year, which aims to
provide practical exposure to the students about industrial research. The report focuses on
the TATA Group, covering various aspects such as market behavior, financial performance,
human resources, supply chain, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
I sincerely hope this report will help in understanding the operations and strategies of a

1. Introduction
The objective of this industrial research project is to gain a deeper understanding of the
operations, structure, and strategic approach of a diversified business group like the TATA
Group. Industrial research bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world
business practices. Through this project, students explore market dynamics, financial
patterns, human resource management, supply chain logistics, sustainability practices, and
entrepreneurial ventures in an actual business setting.
2. Company Profile – TATA Group
The TATA Group is one of India’s largest and oldest conglomerates, founded in 1868 by
Jamsetji Tata. Headquartered in Mumbai, TATA Group operates globally in over 100
countries across six continents. It comprises more than 30 companies across sectors like IT,
steel, automobiles, consumer goods, telecommunications, and hospitality.

7. Research Methodology
This study adopts a mixed-method research approach combining both secondary data
analysis and primary data collection.
7.1 Research Design
The research is descriptive in nature, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the
TATA Group’s performance across various functional domains. It utilizes qualitative insights
from secondary sources and quantitative data from surveys.
7.2 Data Collection Methods
- **Primary Data:** A structured questionnaire was prepared and circulated among
students, professionals, and consumers to gain insights into their perceptions of the TATA
Group.
- **Secondary Data:** Company reports, published research papers, official websites, and
financial statements were used for analysis.

A convenience sampling method was used to collect primary data from 30 respondents. The
sample included individuals from different age groups and professional backgrounds to
ensure diverse responses.

Data collected from the survey was analyzed using percentage analysis and simple graphical
representation (bar and pie charts). Qualitative insights were used to interpret company
strategies and policies.
7.5 Limitations of the Study
- The sample size for primary data is limited.
- Time constraints restricted deeper financial analysis.
- The research relies partly on secondary data which may not reflect the most recent
developments.
