Teaching and Learning Activities: LESSON 17
Pre-lesson: Ask pupils if they remember how Gemma’s day was in the diary. Pupils share their thoughts.
Lesson delivery:
1. Pupil refer to textbook page 29 Activity 4. Pupils find and write the examples of the things in their exercise books.
2. Ask pupils to take note about the exclamation marks and brackets. Teacher asks pupils more punctuation examples in the diary.
3. Pupils refer to Activity 5. In pairs, pupils read and write short answers for the questions in their exercise books.
4. Show a sample.
5. Pupils write their own diary using the starter in Activity 6. Demonstrate the first sentence using the points from Activity 5.
7. Pupils write their own diary using the points discussed with their friend individually (M). Pupils are guided to write using the points (L).
Post-lesson: Check pupils’ work.

Pre-lesson: Elicit the names of the characters from textbook and ask about the characters’ special powers.
Lesson delivery:
1. Pre-teach a few words: lake, forest, lost.
2. Pupils listen the audio (CD2 27) and find out who helps them.
3. The audio is played again and paused at each frame to check pupils’ understanding.
4. Ask a few questions and pupils point to the frames in order to answer.
5. Pupils and teacher discuss about the value of asking for help when you need it.
Post-lesson: Students in groups of 5 practise role playing with the characters and if time permits, they can perform.
