Worksheet No. 1
Answer the following questions briefly.
1. If the Government has the prime duty to serve and protect its
citizens, in return, what is your responsibility to the state?
As a citizen, your role in the community is indispensable, even when
the government holds the primary responsibility to serve and protect.
While the government sets the foundation, your duty involves active
engagement and collaboration. Stay informed about local issues,
exercise your right to vote, and participate in civic activities to
contribute to the collective well-being. Being a responsible citizen
means not only holding the government accountable but also fostering
unity among fellow citizens. Acts of kindness, empathy, and community
involvement help create a vibrant and supportive environment.
Together, citizens and government form a symbiotic relationship, each
playing a crucial role in building a resilient and thriving community.
In essence, your duty goes beyond passive observation; it requires a
commitment to shared values, active participation, and a genuine
concern for the welfare of the community. By embracing this
responsibility, you contribute to the creation of a society that flourishes
through collective efforts, cooperation, and mutual respect.
2. Why is it that the government recognizes the important role of
the youth in nation building?
Governments recognize the crucial role of the youth in nation-building
as they embody the driving force behind progress, innovation, and
societal transformation. The enthusiasm and fresh perspectives young
individuals bring contribute significantly to a nation's dynamism. To
empower the youth, governments invest in educational opportunities,
ensuring they acquire the skills needed to navigate the challenges of
the modern world. This strategic investment aims to cultivate a
generation capable of leading their nations towards sustainable
development and resilience. By actively engaging with the aspirations
of the youth, governments create policies that address their unique
needs, encouraging civic participation and fostering a sense of
belonging. This approach not only ensures the continuity of societies
but also builds a diverse and inclusive environment where every
citizen's contributions, regardless of age, are valued for the nation's
overall success.
3. What do you think is the reason why female students are now
required to take NSTP?
Including females in the National Service Training Program (NSTP) is
crucial for nurturing civic awareness and patriotism in young
individuals. This program, which is mandatory for females, encourages
a sense of duty and responsibility toward the community and the
nation. NSTP becomes a platform for the overall development of
individuals, addressing their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and
social well-being.
Participating in NSTP empowers females to actively contribute to the
growth and development of society. Through hands-on learning,
community service, and theoretical knowledge, females gain a well-
rounded skill set beyond academics. The program fosters leadership
qualities, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of societal issues that
need collective attention. In essence, NSTP's holistic approach ensures
that females not only fulfill their civic duties but also become well-
rounded individuals dedicated to improving their communities and the
nation as a whole.
4. Why are foreigners not required to take up NSTP?
Foreigners typically don't join the National Service Training Program
(NSTP) in many countries because the program is designed for citizens.
It aims to build a sense of civic duty and responsibility unique to that
nation, often involving activities tied to the country's history, culture,
and social context. Foreigners may have different obligations or
national service requirements in their home countries. NSTP is tailored
to address citizens' specific needs and challenges, and foreigners may
not share the same historical and cultural ties the program aims to
nurture.
This exclusion isn't about discrimination; rather, it focuses on fostering
a particular sense of citizenship and belonging among the country's
residents. Foreigners contribute to society in other ways, like following
local laws, participating in community initiatives, and respecting the
values of the host country.
Worksheet No. 2
1. Explain in your own words the meaning of crime
A crime refers to an action or inaction carried out by an individual with
the capability to understand their actions, which is either forbidden or
required by the law. The perpetration or neglect of such an act is
subject to punishment through a legal process initiated in the name of
the government whose law has been violated. In simpler terms, a crime
occurs when someone does something they're not supposed to or fails
to do something they should, and the government can take legal action
to address it.
2. As an NSTP student how can you help lessen crimes in your
community/society?
As an NSTP student, I see my role in making my community safer and
reducing crimes. The practical skills I learn, like disaster response, can
be used to handle emergencies and prevent situations that might lead
to crimes. Being part of community development projects in NSTP lets
me contribute to creating a stronger and more connected
neighborhood, making it less likely for crime to happen.
It's not just about specific skills; I also have a responsibility to promote
social responsibility and unity. Actively engaging with my community,
communicating, and addressing underlying issues can create
awareness and help prevent crimes. Whether I'm organizing events,
working with neighbors, or just being attentive and caring, I believe my
actions as an NSTP student can make a meaningful contribution to
reducing crimes and building a safer and more supportive society for
everyone.

_____ m. Join the drinking session in your neighbourhood out of
pakikisama.
_____ n. Accept strangers in your home.
__✓ __ o. Double check your doors and windows in the evening
before going to sleep.
4. Briefly explain why you have not checked the numbers you left
out in number 3.
I picked out for the other numbers when selecting numbers because
the available options didn't align with my current circumstances. The
choices provided didn't seem applicable in my present situation, and I
wanted to accurately represent my status. Moreover, the other options
seemed to pertain to sharing personal information or possibly
indicating a sense of unease, which doesn't accurately reflect my
current state. Choosing "other" felt like the most appropriate way to
communicate that the provided options didn't capture my situation or
feelings accurately.
Selecting the other options doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem,
but rather it's a way to express nuance and provide a more specific
response. It allows for a more accurate representation of my situation,
ensuring that the information gathered is meaningful and reflective of
my current state.
5. Give specific emergencies when you can call 119.
Heart Attack or Severe Chest Pain: If someone experiences intense
chest pain or signs of a heart attack, calling the emergency hotline is
crucial for immediate medical assistance.
Structure Fire or Out-of-Control Flames: Witnessing a building fire or
any uncontrolled flames requires prompt action. Dial the emergency
hotline to ensure firefighters respond swiftly to the situation.
Physical Assault or Threatening Behavior: In cases of physical assault,
robbery, or any situation where personal safety is at risk, calling the
emergency hotline connects you to law enforcement for urgent
intervention.
Serious Car Accidents with Injuries: If you come across a severe car
accident with injuries or immediate danger, calling the emergency
hotline ensures that medical help and rescue services are dispatched
promptly.
Natural Disaster Alerts or Evacuation Needs: For earthquakes, floods,
or other natural disasters, the emergency hotline provides essential
information and assistance. Call if you need guidance on evacuation or
other safety measures.
6. Give precautionary measures to avoid being raped.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Trust Your Instincts
Stay Connected
Travel in Groups
Learn Self-Defense
7. Case: You would like to have a cellphone but you cannot afford
to buy one. A friend of yours is selling a stolen cellphone which is
very cheap. Are you going to buy it? If your answer is yes or no,
briefly explain why.
No, because buying a stolen cellphone is not a good idea for a few
important reasons. Firstly, it's against the law and can get you and
your friend into serious trouble, including legal consequences and
financial penalties. Moreover, supporting the trade in stolen goods
contributes to criminal activities. Choosing not to buy stolen items
helps discourage this kind of behavior and promotes a safer
community. Even though a cheap deal may be tempting, it's crucial to
consider the legal consequences and impact on community safety.
Instead, opt for lawful and ethical alternatives like refurbished or
second-hand phones from trustworthy sources to get a good deal
without compromising your integrity or breaking the law.

1. How do you define values?
Values are the fundamental principles that shape our beliefs and
actions, impacting our decision-making and interactions with the world.
These deeply held convictions reflect what is important to us
individually and as part of a community. Serving as a moral compass,
values help us discern right from wrong, guiding choices in different
aspects of life. They play a crucial role in forming our identity and
contribute significantly to the culture and ethics of societies.
Essentially, values represent our cherished core beliefs, influencing
how we lead our lives and engage with others.

3. Do you agree that using “po” and “opo” and kissing the hands
of our parents are signs of respect and therefore should be
preserve? Why? Explain briefly.
Using "po" and "opo" and kissing the hands of our parents go beyond
cultural norms; they are significant symbols of respect that need to be
preserved. These traditions signify a profound appreciation for showing
reverence to our elders and go beyond mere politeness. The act of
using "po" and "opo" acknowledges authority, while kissing our
parents' hands physically manifests our love and respect, expressing
gratitude in a way that transcends language. Preserving these
practices is crucial for maintaining a connection to our cultural heritage
and reinforcing the importance of respect in our society.
In an ever-changing world, holding onto these traditions gains even
more significance. They act as reminders of values that unite
generations, contributing to the overall fabric of respect within families
and communities. As the world evolves, these simple yet profound
gestures play a vital role in upholding the timeless virtue of honoring
our elders, fostering stronger family bonds, and promoting a culture of
mutual respect that should endure for generations to come.
4. Do you believe in the saying that “kung ano ang puno ay
siyang bunga? Explain.
In my personal perspective, the saying "kung ano ang puno ay siya ring
bunga" holds a profound truth about the connection between actions
and outcomes. For me, this saying emphasizes the idea that the results
or outcomes are a reflection of the actions or decisions made. Just like
a tree's characteristics are evident in its fruits, the quality of our
choices shapes the results we experience in our lives. This simple yet
powerful notion encourages self-reflection, making us mindful of the
seeds we plant through our actions and decisions, knowing that they
inevitably influence the fruits we bear in our journey.
Believing in "kung ano ang puno ay siya ring bunga" inspires a sense of
responsibility for the consequences of our choices. It prompts us to be
intentional about the kind of actions and decisions we make,
recognizing that they play a crucial role in determining the outcomes
we reap. This belief fosters a mindset of accountability, urging us to
plant seeds of kindness, hard work, and positivity, with the
understanding that these are the elements that contribute to the fruits
of our lives.
5. Explain “ values are caught and not taught”.
The phrase "values are caught, not taught" suggests that our values
are primarily absorbed through observation and experience, rather
than just through explicit instruction. While formal education
contributes, the core of our values is heavily influenced by the
behaviors and attitudes we witness in our surroundings. Growing up,
I've come to realize that the values I hold dear were mainly acquired by
observing the actions and choices of those around me, including my
family, friends, and community. This underscores the importance of
setting positive examples and creating environments where virtuous
behaviors are not only preached but authentically lived. The concept
emphasizes that values are contagious, spreading through everyday
interactions and behaviors, and underscores the impact of role models
and the power of consistent, ethical conduct in shaping the values of
individuals and communities.

Worksheet No. 5
Give what is asked in each of the following statement:
1. Discuss briefly the importance of studying health.
Learning about health is incredibly important for a few key reasons.
First off, it gives individuals the knowledge they need to make smart
choices about their own health. When you understand things like
nutrition, exercise, and preventive measures, you can adopt a lifestyle
that lowers the risk of getting sick and supports both physical and
mental well-being. Additionally, studying health is vital for building a
community that puts the health of its members first. This knowledge
helps healthcare professionals, policymakers, and communities create
effective plans for preventing diseases, spotting issues early on, and
managing health concerns, all of which contribute to better public
health overall. In a nutshell, delving into health equips both individuals
and communities with the tools they need to lead healthier lives,
promoting a society that values and actively invests in the well-being
of everyone.
2. Man is an agent-carrier of disease germs, how can man spread
a contagious disease directly and indirectly?
Contagious diseases spread through both direct and indirect means,
and it's crucial to understand these methods to prevent transmission.
Direct transmission involves person-to-person contact, like respiratory
droplets when someone coughs or sneezes, and through physical
touch, such as shaking hands or hugging. Indirect transmission occurs
through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects, where touching
a contaminated surface and then the face can introduce infection.
Additionally, airborne transmission happens when tiny respiratory
droplets linger in the air, posing a risk if inhaled by others. Awareness
of these modes of transmission is essential for individuals to take
precautions, including practicing good hygiene, maintaining physical
distance, and using protective measures, to reduce the risk of
spreading contagious diseases within communities.
3. How can we prevent the spread of GERMS?
Maintaining good health involves preventing the spread of germs
through simple yet effective practices. Regular and thorough
handwashing with soap helps eliminate germs acquired during daily
activities. Additionally, practicing respiratory hygiene by covering the
mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing minimizes the risk of
airborne transmission. Avoiding close contact with individuals
displaying signs of illness reduces the chance of direct transmission.
Regular cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces
further contribute to a healthier environment. By incorporating these
basic practices into our daily routines, we actively participate in
minimizing the transmission of germs and fostering overall well-being
within our communities.
4. What preventive tip can you suggest to avoid PNEUMONIA?
A key preventive measure to avoid pneumonia is ensuring vaccination
against common respiratory infections like influenza and pneumococcal
disease. These vaccines not only protect individuals but also contribute
to community immunity, reducing the overall spread of these
infections. Additionally, practicing good respiratory hygiene, such as
covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, helps
prevent the transmission of respiratory droplets containing germs that
can lead to pneumonia. Simple habits like regular handwashing,
maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and avoiding exposure to tobacco
smoke further enhance respiratory health, decreasing the likelihood of
contracting pneumonia. By incorporating these preventive measures
into daily life, individuals can foster a healthier respiratory system,
ultimately lowering the risk of pneumonia.
5. Food is also an agent –carrier of disease germs, how can we
avoid getting diseases from infected food?
To avoid diseases from contaminated food, it's essential to adopt safe
food handling practices. This includes practicing thorough hand
hygiene before handling food and separating raw and cooked items
during preparation to prevent cross-contamination. Cooking food
thoroughly at proper temperatures is crucial to eliminate bacteria and
parasites, while prompt refrigeration of perishable items and
maintaining a clean kitchen environment contribute to preventing
harmful microorganism growth. Staying informed about food recalls
and practicing mindfulness while dining out further minimizes the risk
of consuming contaminated food. By incorporating these
straightforward yet effective practices into our daily routines, we can
significantly decrease the likelihood of contracting diseases from
infected food and ensure overall food safety.
6. Why do women tend to live longer and are generally far
healthier than men?
Women's longer life expectancy and overall better health compared to
men stem from a blend of biological, lifestyle, and societal factors.
Biologically, hormonal and genetic differences contribute to women's
longer life expectancy, with estrogen potentially offering cardiovascular
and immune system benefits. Additionally, the presence of an extra X
chromosome in women may enhance resistance to certain infections
and diseases. Lifestyle choices also play a crucial role, as women tend
to prioritize health, adopting behaviors like maintaining balanced diets,
regular exercise, and avoiding risky habits such as smoking and
excessive alcohol consumption. Societal factors, including men's
engagement in riskier activities and occupations, contribute to a higher
mortality rate among men. Recognizing these diverse influences
emphasizes the complexity of gender-related health differences and
highlights the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles for everyone.
7. What are the physical effects of smoking to our body?
Smoking has severe and far-reaching impacts on our physical health,
affecting nearly every organ in our body. Notably, it significantly
heightens the likelihood of developing lung diseases such as chronic
bronchitis and emphysema, collectively termed chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD). The inhalation of tobacco smoke damages
the lungs' airways and sacs, leading to breathing difficulties and a
decline in lung function over time. Furthermore, smoking is a major
contributor to various cancers, including those affecting the lungs,
throat, and mouth, as the harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke trigger
cellular changes that may lead to malignant growths.
Beyond the respiratory system, smoking has adverse effects on the
cardiovascular system. It elevates the risk of heart disease, stroke, and
blood vessel damage by causing the accumulation of fatty deposits in
the arteries, narrowing blood vessels and impeding blood flow. This
strain on the heart can result in conditions such as coronary artery
disease and high blood pressure. Additionally, smoking compromises
overall immune function, making individuals more susceptible to
infections. Recognizing these physical consequences underscores the
urgency of quitting smoking to protect our health and well-being.
8. What preventive tip can you suggest to avoid MEASLES?
Ensuring vaccination, particularly with the measles, mumps, and
rubella (MMR) vaccine, is a crucial preventive measure against the
highly contagious measles virus. Administered in two doses during
childhood, the MMR vaccine not only shields individuals but also
contributes to community immunity, curtailing the overall spread of
measles. Staying current with vaccinations, especially for children at
recommended ages, is a straightforward yet impactful step in
preventing both the onset and transmission of measles.
In addition to vaccination, practicing good hygiene is vital to further
reduce the risk of measles transmission. Regular handwashing with
soap and water, particularly after exposure to public spaces or
individuals displaying symptoms, is essential. Avoiding close contact
with those exhibiting measles symptoms, such as coughing or
sneezing, further minimizes the risk of exposure. Combining
vaccination with basic hygiene practices empowers individuals to
actively participate in preventing the spread of measles, safeguarding
both personal and public health.
