or product relative to competitors. The objective of the marketing positioning is to establish
the image or identity of the brand or product so that the consumer can perceive it in a certain
way.

24
PRICING STRATEGY

Price is the value that is put to a product or service and is the result of a complex set of
calculations, research and understanding and risk taking ability. A pricing strategy takes into
account segments, ability to pay, market conditions, competitor actions, trade margins and
input costs, amongst others. It is targeted at the defined customers and against competitors.

A penetrating pricing strategy involves setting a relatively low initial price for a product to gain
a significant market share quickly. For a smart health monitoring system, implementing a
penetrating pricing strategy can be approached in the following ways:

1. Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to understand the price

sensitivity of potentialcustomers. Identify the willingness of the target market to adopt
and pay for such a system.

system to potential intermediaries. Showcase how the product can complement their existing
services, improve patient care, enhance wellness programs, or generate additional revenue
streams for their businesses.

3. Distribution Agreements: Negotiate distribution agreements or partnerships with

intermediaries, outlining terms, pricing, responsibilities, and support mechanisms. Ensure clear
communication and alignment of goals between your company and the intermediaries.

35
4. Training and Support: Provide comprehensive training and support to
intermediaries on how to effectively market, sell, and support the smart health
monitoring system. Equip them with the necessary knowledge and resources to promote
and explain the product to end-users.

5. Co-Marketing and Collaborative Campaigns: Collaborate with intermediaries onco-

marketing initiatives, joint campaigns, or events to promote the product to their existing
customer base. This can include hosting workshops, webinars, or health-related events
together.

36
